Free Agents Not Finding a Team

Hey guys,

I am running into the start of seasons with several FA's still unsigned and nobody bidding on them. Teams have money and would need these players and also they drop their demands realizing teams are not bidding on them.

Any idea why this is happening or how to fix this other than me acting as the Baseball God to sign them to teams??

Thanks in advance.

Are they big-name free agents?

I should have mentioned that. These are position players that are typically in there early 30s age wise and I use 20-80 rating and about 5-10 players are 55 ratings and then 20-30 players are 50 ratings. All are batters. Pitchers are fine.

If they're just older replacement players I wouldn't sign them either I guess

Yeah probably shouldn't be signed. If you have a full universe with the international and independent leagues they might land there at least. but mlb teams not over spending on over the hill players is probably a good thing.

Like others have stated, probably a good thing. They'll probably end up in a foreign league for a year or two and maybe come back.

Do their demands seem high? In my league, Justin Verlander (41 years old) was a free agent and was demanding a 5-year deal worth $25M a year. He eventually signed for something like 3/$22M per. Seems to me that players in OOTP don't like taking huge paycuts, at least at first.

My typical free agency strategy is to wait until preseason (or even February) and look for bargains; many players' demands drop a lot by then and you can get some good players on cheap one-year deals.

I disagree with some of the comments here. A guy with a 55 out of 80 overall rating should probably be on an MLB roster somewhere. And he said they're in their early 30s; it's not like they're 36 or something.

I get it - but I'm having this issue as well and it's not one guy. It's a bunch. I thought maybe it was tied to my feeder league.

Hey OP - do you use feeders or no?

I agree. 50 & 55 rated players should likely be on a MLB roster.

I just meant I disagree that it's good that the AI isn't signing 55 rated players and that those players should go to foreign leagues. Puig will be on an MLB roster.

Puig will be on the a roster by June. He also is asking for crazy money and we'll he stinks and if you have personality on then he is even more awful. Ai hates bad personality types.

The default setup I'll disagree I didn't think there was 1 good veteran free agent worthy of being signed before season starts.

Now if we aren't talking default 2020 then who knows.

Check out the top 10 guys. These guys should still be on teams and 4 of the top 6 are asking for minimum money.

Why they are awful? Either fragile or wrecked or over 30. Most closer to 35. Garbage players you might rent cause of mass injuries.

Ratings don't tell nearly the entire story. Give me last 3 season of stats. No way they are putting up mlb starter numbers.

This is showing their potential ratings.

Here you go pal....

Still think it's just ratings? These guys were pretty good last year.

Yep. I had an All-Star 1B that I almost re-signed but decided against. He sat out all year.
