But when he says it on his employers airwaves, they have their right to "free speech" by firing him to show their disagreement. Don Cherry is no different from Jemele Hill. Their right to speak their mind doesn't force their networks to be obligated to pay them.

You are allowed free speech. But your employer can fire you at will for things you do and say. And he said his comments on his employers broadcast. When you do that your employer is responsible for what is said on air.

And this is not exactly his first go around. He has a 30+ year history of comments against immigrants, women and European players.

A 1st for the Canes tonight. They have reached the conference finals 4 times I think. Played for the Stanley twice. Won the Cup once. Hosted an All-Star game and the NHL draft.

But never have they swept a 3 game road swing in their 22 seasons.

Go figure.
