Perfect Strategy ?

I play a lot of wargames and many of the forums for these games provide a section on strategies and favorite methods to play. Tips of the trade type stuff.

I was wondering if someone has a link on what they feel is successful and what they look at for their team on an everyday basis. I have looked but not able to find.

Thanks

A) Look at underlying ratings, not overall
B) Pick a strategy you want to employ and build your park and your team after that
C) Don't overreact to a few games, baseball is a long season, it takes at least a month to get even a partial read on a player.
D) It is supposed to be fun, if you aren't having fun, change it up a lil bit, and don't forget that a season is only 1 week, next week you'll have a fresh go round

Also these 2 threads from the beta (data changed a bit) might help a bit...

Kind of linking to the above around strategy, in terms of Ball Park Factors, I set this to random and haven't change this since:

AVG OVR: .990
AVG LHB: 1.065
AVG RHB .950
Doubles: .922
Triples: .860
HR OVR: 1.027
HR LHB: 1.095
HR RHB: .990

Would I be right in saying I should be building around LHB who can hit for Contact and Power then have a pitching staff of predominantly LHP who will give even more trouble to RHP?

My career stats over 3 seasons are currently .AVG 270 and ERA 4.70 with RS 790 and RA 810. Would this be what you would expect for my BP Factor or would this be mainly down to my roster?

I have been following baseball from the UK for about 3 years but never taken much thought into Ball Park Factors when building a team.

That is correct, yes. I'd say for pitching to make sure you don't employ pitchers with low movement with those HR #'s up there. ERA is pretty high, even for an offensive dominated ballpark. With more lefties that will drop.

Can someone explain how ballpark effects matter. I am starting a 3rd team that will be focused on defense and contact hitting mostly.

So how do would I set the ballpark factors to limit HR and emphasize the defense and, hopefully gap power of my lineup?

I have that setup for my 2nd team. I have AVG set to 1.1 for both RHB and LHB, HR set to 0.9 for both, and doubles and triples at 1.5. Get a great outfield defense and flyball pitchers.

So the lower number lower the possibility and the higher numbers increase? so 0.9 for HR should produce less than 1.1?

Say you have a player that would hit 100 home runs in a season. In a 0.9 ballpark he would hit 95. In the 1.1 he would hit 105.

This is obviously a simplification as this assumes all road ball parks have a 1.0 factor, but you get the idea.
