Scheduling bug
In another thread, I was complaining about having too many expansion teams in my fictional league and I wanted to get rid of some of them.
On the first day of the offseason, I went ahead and deleted one team from each league. I was then forced to recreate the schedule at the start of the season. I did that and everything seemed fine. Well now here I am on September 28th which is the last day of the season. My team has only played 152 games while others ha e 152-153, which is fine, except this is a hundred and sixty-two game league. Apparently the game knows it's a 162 game season, because it thinks that a team with a .493 PCT still has a mathematical chance - they haven't been classified as "Eliminated" yet. I simmed ahead a few days and the postseason seems to be progressing as normal, despite the fact that only two divisons have teams that "clinched" . I did do a backup after I deleted the teams, but if I go back to the backup, how do I prevent this from happening again? For now, I can just pretend this was a strike-shortened season. |

Does your league feature interleague play?
If so, did you allow OOTP to create your schedule? OOTP cannot create interleague schedules. You have to import one into game. |

have a backup from before season.. preferably when oyu can still use the functions to adjust teh scheduel? if not, that's likely going to take a lot of hand-tailored work to fix.
you can't import a schedule midseason, unless they changed that to be more robust and figure out 'current' day and work from there. '19 ? look, just in case. if it's what david says above, chekc out schedules forum -- one likely exists that fits your new structure. any change in structure requires a new schedule...make sure to re-generate one. once re-generated, you can use "evaluate schedule" and "grid" [sic] options. you can make sure that the right # of games are played against the intended opponents. you can see GP H/A etc... anything wonky, don't advance the calendar to a point you cannot import a new schedule. while i have the labels wrong, you can find those options under "Available Actions" in teh schedule editor or maybe just in league settings-options etc. Last edited by NoOne; 10-04-2018 at 12:49 PM. |

Really, at this point, with so many schedules available, both in the game's schedule folder and in the mods section, there's no excuse to use the schedules that the in-game scheduler produces. That's not a knock against the developers - I am amazed that they were able to get a scheduler to work at all. But there's no reason to rely on the scheduler given that the it can't: (1) handle inter-league games; (2) handle sub-leagues with uneven numbers of teams; or (3) even do a very good job of handling subleagues with uneven numbers of teams in their divisions. And the schedules that it does produce are rather boring (lots of league-wide off-days, etc). Seriously, stop using the in-game scheduler. BTW: the game thinks it's a 162-game schedule because that information is entered independently from the schedule itself (it's an entry in the Options menu). As long as that number is 162, the game will always think there are 162 games in the schedule, even if the schedule contains more or fewer games. |
