4 Bugs I've noticed
These are recurring bugs I've encountered running the following system:
Toshiba Portege 7200cte laptop Windows XP Service Pack 1 Pentium 3 at 600Mhz 192 MB RAM About 1 Gig free HD space Running OOTP 5 with Direct 3D DISABLED Using GeForce rosters in a career league- Manager mode I've outlined the steps that lead to each bug, with an asterisk (*) next to the bug itself. Bug 1: a. It is a fantasy draft or amateur draft. b. Before the draft begins, I choose Available Players Report c. I view an available player, then right-click to exit *d. That player's ratings all drop to 0. If I sort players, that player is at the bottom with other players with 0 ratings. Restarting the game resets the player's ratings. Bug 2: a. I am playing a game manually (rather than simming it) b. A lineup slot is empty (whether a player is injured or if I've sent him to the minors without designating a replacement in the batting order) c. I click CONTINUE without filling the lineup slot *d. I get an error message telling me that OOTP.exe has encountered a problem and has to close. It offers to tell Microsoft about it, but I suspect they wouldn't care. Bug 3: a. I'm looking at my Roster Report *b. The WHIP of my relievers is expressed in whole numbers (i.e. 38, 53) rather that any realistic WHIP (1.38, 1.53) *c. My Roster Report says my record vs. LHP is 21-55 and my record vs. RHP is 65-21. According to the expanded AL Standings, my record vs. LHP is 21-21 and my record vs. RHP is 65-55. Obviously, they can't both be right. I simmed the regular season so I don't know for sure, but the latter seems much more likely. Bug 4: a. I'm Using Player Search b. I find a player using Search by Name *c. IF I have NEVER used Search by Ratings previously in this game session, the player ratings returned to me using Search by Name are the ratings reported by my Head of Scouting. *d IF I HAVE used Search by Ratings previously in this game session, the player ratings returned to me using Search by Name are generic, "average" scouting ratings. Not sure whether C or D is the bug here, but the ratings reported using Search by Name should not be dependent on whether I have used Search by Ratings earlier in the game session. Corollary to Bug 4- maybe more of a suggestion: a. Search by Ratings ALWAYS reports generic ratings by "average" scouts regardless of who my Head of Scouting is. I personally find this confusing, since it's the only place in the game where I get these alternate ratings. Search for a player, he's got one set of ratings; trade for him, you find his ratings are different! Get rid of this "average" scout phenomenon- let's have ALL ratings that I see be the opinion of the Scouting Chief I hired. b. The only possible exception to the above is when your Head of Scouting's contract has expired, and you have no free money to hire new coaches. With no Scouting Chief, everyone's rating is reported as 0, so it's hard to make trades to free up money. Then again, maybe that's your penalty for mismanaging your payroll! |
