OOTP Does Sort Of Repeat History

OOTP Does Sort Of Repeat History

According to a snippet from a Baseball Almanac article. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/yearly/yr1894n.shtml On August 6, 1894, Jimmy Bannon hit a grand slam. On August 7, 1894,
Bannon hit another grand slam and became the first player to ever hit grand slams during consecutive games. In my universe, Mike Tiernan did it in May of that same year.

I am curious: What is the allure of playing baseball in the 1890's? I have never known anyone that followed baseball pre 1935 (my dad) and I am 62 years old and a life long diehard baseball fan. Thanks.

No, of course no one would be interested in Deadball or the Babe Ruth era or the great Philadelphia A's teams or the Gas House Gang.

Sheeesh. . . .

The beauty and allure of OOTP is that you can play in any era and do whatever the heck you want to do. I have a fictional universe that I started in 1875 and have never played more than an exhibition game with current lineups. I'm pretty sure Johnny Case was being sarcastic. Different strokes for different folks.

I read that as sarcasm being responded to with sarcasm.
I took Mariner and Giants Fan's original question at face value: not as a denial of the possibility of the appeal of playing with eras of baseball so far in the past that no living person could have witnessed them, but rather an honest inquiry. I can certainly see the allure, and Johnny Case can too. But Mariner and Giants Fan, as I saw it, was asking the OP what the allure was to them. Seems like a legit question.

Thanks! And that is how it was meant.

I enjoy the early years and finding new player I had never heard of before and play with the ones that had a story to tell.
