Filling roster's with fictional players?

For some reason I forgot to hold a draft before my first season and most of the teams don't have any players. Some teams have 10 (or so)players.

If I fill the roster's with fictional players will the real(or current) players remain on their teams?

I think the game will only create enough players to fill the empty slots.

Best thing would be to make a backup of your game, fill the rosters, and see what happens. If it goes badly simply restore your game from the backup. Of course if you can't add players it might have to scrapped anyway?

yes, it only fills the empty slots. doesn't affect players already there.
