Owner budget reduction

Why does the owner reduce my budget so much when I have a lot of leftover money? If I have a $29 million surplus, I totally understand reducing it to a $10 million surplus, but reducing it to where I don't have enough to sign any free agents seems to go to far. At least leave me $5 million or so in case a great international free agent becomes available during the season.
I was in a position where I had a bunch of extra players, so I combined a bunch in a couple trades to get good players and had the former teams retain their salaries. That seemed like the smart thing to do, I wish I wasn't punished for it.

Hate when that happens, especially when I DON'T have it marked for the owner to do so!

stingy owner? have to check their ratings for such things.

there's an option that removes that and you'll have a budget 100% based on last years income.

even that doesn't give an accurate budget. i can make ~450-500M a season and if i let the AI set my budget they won't give more than ~400-415M.

in my game world i am owner, gm, and coach, but only gm in settings. play as you want. maybe you want the owner being a financial imbecile... most of them are.

What's that saying in the government? "If I don't spend the entire budget, I won't get it again next year."

yeah, and that works well, right?

i don't see any drawbacks to that!

it's a myth that successful people are smarter at finances and business. it's more about who they were born to.. that's the single greatest correlating factor. so, take the power away from those shaved monkeys!

I learned early on in the military to spend every single dollar by the end of June (fiscal year is Oct to Sep) so they had to take money from prpgrams that weren't executing or who didn't understand that they don't give awards for saving money.

I never wasted it though, I spent it on getting my troops the best available training and equipment. Not my fault if you didn't understand the game.

Not sure if that's why I spend every dollar on OOTP as well but it's as good an excuse as any.
