Time Zone Question
As I get ready to dive into a new fictional universe once 18 is released, I want to make sure I understand if/how the game handles time zones on the schedules. Are time zones of the teams a factor in how the game manages schedules or are times treated as if everyone is in the same time zone?

The game is aware of time zones, but other than start times I believe it's basically cosmetic.

Thanks. Is the time zone a setting at the team level?

Timezones are set at the home team's city level.
If the game is creating the schedule, you don't need to worry about those as the time is the same for all home teams. If you're creating a schedule...ootp will show the times correctly...7 pm will be 7 pm no matter where the game is played. Where you'd have to be careful is when importing a schedule from some other source and you also have to consider how your time zone setting is set in your game. If it's let's say you set it for Pacific time and east coast games are set for 7pm in the schedule..then they will start at 4pm (-3hrs.) in ootp. For example: When I do the game's schedules each year (since mlb and milb.com give game times in eastern standard time...I have to subtract 3hours for west coast home games cause ootp doesn't do it auto magically. Same for those host cities in the Mt. and Central time zones. Hope this makes sense. Last edited by Bigrod; 02-17-2017 at 05:36 PM. |

Understood, I'm trying to make sure that games happen at the right times when playing out a day. If I have a 1:05 start in NY and a 1:05 start in LA, I want to make sure that the LA game starts three hours later.

You can set the game time to local time (1:05 Pacific time, for example) and if you have your league time zone set to Eastern, then the 1:05 Pacific time shows up as 4:05 p.m. If you have your league set to Pacific time, then your 1:05 Eastern time would show up as 10:05.
My leagues usually are set in Central time zone (where I live). So my 7:05 starts usually show as the following: 7:05 if a game is being played in Eastern time zone (games in NY, Phi, Pit, etc.) 8:05 Central (Houston, Chicago, etc.) 9:05 Mountain (Colorado) 10:05 Pacific (LA, SD, SF, etc.) |
