Coach ratings

Is there any possibility that we could go back to having the coach ratings displayed instead of the reputation system we currently work under? Or at least have the option?

I would like to have the option as well. The reputation system was a good idea but it should not be bogus to the point where a highly regarded coach has no coaching ratings.

Yeah, this really needs to happen. The new style doesn't make much sense, especially since there is no real way to judge what a particular coach is actually good at. It doesn't help when team trainers are frequently given the preferred position of Manager even though they have 0 ratings in all the coaching categories. Oh, but their "reputation" is good so teams hire them to manage.

The idea that in real life coaches are based entirely on "reputation" and not actual specific skills is absurd. Even if it's a bit subjective, make it more like scouting where we can at least see that Manager X is supposed to be good with hitters or good with pitchers or whatever.

Has anyone tried playing with the disabled coaching system? Since the current coaching system seems so random and is difficult to use I am thinking of trying it. Interested in hearing from anyone that has.

I tried turning off the coaching system but then I found that I didn't like that there wasn't a manager with their strategy settings. I like having to consider that when I hire a manager. So I basically would prefer to turn it off, but really can't.

Also, in a game where nearly every setting has an option, I find it odd that coach ratings being visible isn't one of them. The current way of hiring coaches is not really fun for me at all.

I thought the purpose of the bench coach was to enhance fielding and baserunning (thought I read that in the manual).

Without knowing how they are with either/both/neither kinda tough to make an informed decision.

Put me in the column of bring back the "old" way

Bump to please add this for '20.
I liked the idea of coaches but it's weird every other area of the game has ratings/stats to base things on but not coaches.
I keep trying them every new version, then realizing it's not fun and turning it off.

Yes please. I dont mind the option to toggle this setting on or off. I now only play without coaching but I hate it as no managers as drhay53 said.
