That one player you MUST watch
Being the GM, I sim most of my games... but there is one player on my team who I watch every one of his games.
SP Justus Sheffield.. 4 time Cy Young (last 3 years in a row), 4 time AS who has also started the last 3 AS games. A few games ago, I watched him strikeout 17 batters. I'm hoping he pitches a no hitter one of these days and I want to watch him do it.

No offense to Sheff, but who's leading the league in ERA?

I have one from the past and one from right now.
Jose Valseca was 340-151 with a 2.65 ERA. 12x Cy Young winner and 6x MVP. #1 in WHIP, #2 K, #2 WAR, #2 W%. Greatest pitcher of all-time. Tommy Davis just became the first player since Ted Williams (114 years) to hit .400 in a season. He doesn't have enough AB to qualify yet for the all-time list, but he currently has a higher career batting average than Ty Cobb (.371 vs .366)

You've got to move him off of C, that offensive output is too awesome to be limited to less than 130 games per season.

Well, the guy we're talking about started in 127 out of 129 games he appeared in while hitting .400, so he missed 33/162 games entirely. He appears to top out in the low 140s in starts in the other two seasons in the screenshot, so I'd say it's a problem when you can get those extra 20-30 games out of his bat at 1B or DH.
99 times out of 100, I'd never advocate for moving such a stud down the defensive spectrum like that, but this is the 100th time, particularly as he ages. He also appears to be a middling defensive catcher anyway. |

I have never seen rating that high but I play with very low scouting so it doesnt mean anything.
I have seen pitchers with near similar performances. My current 1981 Fernando Venezuela is a flipping beast. In his rookie year he did the following: Fernando Venezuela - At age if 19... CY, MVP, WS MVP & ROY 21-3 ~ 251.2 IP ~ 8 SHO ~ 1.75 ERA ~ 1.01 WHIP ~ 0.3 HR/9 ~ 236 K ~ 10.5 WAR All that and he actually missed 5 weeks to injury. |
