Is this Normal? 4 Season Ending Injuries in 13 Days
I don't know what's going on, but there have been 4 season ending injuries in the first 13 days of the season. I always adjust the injury database to lower the number of injury days because I only play an 80 game season. I also double-checked this and it is identical to what I used in OOTP16 (basically, I cut the injury days by 30%).
Has something changed, am I missing something, or is this just random? |

That's not 'normal' because it's more than average, but it can happen.

Well, I decided to copy the league and run a few season to see if the averages play out over time. I want to make sure there isn't anything I did wrong when I adjusted the injury database and re-imported it.

My league has 24 teams. So, I guess that would mean about every 2.4 teams experience having one player gone for the season. Just wondering how the stacks up to "real life". How many players are typically out for 4+ months in a regular baseball season? Do you think my settings are correct, or should I try to look into something? |

Your injury rate is absolutely realistic. But the great thing about this game, if you personally feel like there's too many injuries, lower the setting.

Lowering all the injury durations in the injury database by 30% will not lower the duration of all your injuries by 30%. With the way the injury db works, there's no way to get that result. You've probably only prevented the absolute longest injuries from ever occurring with your injury db edits. Otherwise, you'll have the same number and duration of short injuries (under 9 months anyway) as anyone else).

Better to start the season with those injuries than to have it happen in Sept. when you're in a pennant race (or was) like i had in my last season ....

That usually happens to my team near the end of seasons. Even if I start resting people in mid-September, I usually lose 2 of my starting pitchers and at least 2 position starters before the end of the season.
2016 MLB Cubs: All of this happened from mid-September Jake Arrieta out three weeks with a shoulder strain. Jason Heyward broke a rib sliding into second base. He was out for 10 weeks. Lester out for 5 months with a torn shoulder. Bryant out for 3 months...don't recall the injury. Solar out 5 months with a knee injury. |
