3D wish for the occasional user

I'm not someone that will ever use the 3D animated play on a regular basis. After seeing it in action, I do think it will be cool to use when doing historical exhibitions or for watching a leagues post season unfold.

I really like the default 3D setup the game ships with. It's nice having the play by play at the top of the screen, because it's out of the line of sight. If I need to read it I can, but if I don't so be it. The larger field image is really nice as well, especially if you choose to use the wide view. Problem is, I play most my games using either the Broadcast or Webcast views. I don't particularly like the default setup for these screens, so I like to reconfigure the screen setup to my liking. Of course, this altars the 3D view as well.

Would love if OOTP allowed us to lock in a 3D screen configuration that's completely separate from the configuration we use when using Broadcast/Webcast. That way, when I get the urge to use 3D, I don't have to reconfigure the screen each time.

Not a bad idea. I actually think you could have the option to hide the pbp box now, then replace it with a last play window like on the webcast. You would obviously keep it in non-3D mode...

I noticed the same thing as Mr Watts. I used the 3d for a few games at the beginning of my season and enjoyed it. But, while I do play out my games in Spectator Mode (very underrated way to play, btw), I play very fast. Too fast for the 3d to handle.

Last week, there was an exciting series that I wanted to see unfold in 3d. Loaded it up, and the view was very different. Screen was configured for my 2d fast-plays, but the field was a very zoomed out 3d version. Still saw all the pawns running and throwing, but it was far inferior to the default 3d set up.

Spectator mode is by far my favorite way to play.

Spectator mode is a blast in 3D, especially when you're doing a real-time simulation. I use it all the time. So much fun to just jump into any game and passively watch the 3D animation. I sit there and do the play-by-play in my head. Before 3D I hardly ever watched any other game except my own. Now, I constantly jump in and out of all the games in my league.

I use spectator mode, too, but almost exclusively just my team. I've been using the 3D option as I've started this season and found it does involve me a bit more. The one change I made- as cavebutter mentioned -because I like to move along quickly if possible, I increased the PbP to Fast and kept it at Full Detail. Now it's a bit behind, of course, but couldn't give up the flavor. Still enjoy the play play out on the field, and then the PbP sort of reinforces what I'd seen and imagined. Still, it doesn't take too long and the Enter Key still works to move on after a K or a BB. The other plays take a bit longer to empty the PbP strings, but it's a good tradeoff. FWIW

I'm hoping they'll sync the full PBP up to the action shortly.

I miss the full PBP so much I'm considering not using 3D as the lag is very frustrating.

They will. It's on the radar. How soon, I don't know. Try the Fast setting. It took me a little while to get used to, but I don't mind it now. Only time the action got 'spoiled' for me wasn't actually the PbP timing, it was the achievement banner flipping up in the corner saying WALK OFF before the ball found the stands.
Really though, not a bad compromise. I couldn't live with the short PbP. Just missed too much of the flavor.
