AI Trade offer
In the response drop-down can we get a **** off option in addition to reject offer?
The AI offers me this guy for this guy My guy is much younger, still has speed, and is a slightly better fielder. Basically, they want a younger cheaper player while offering me a guy with about the same historical production--who happens to be on the decline. No way I would make this trade. At least offer me a 23-year old red-headed MR who might not make it to the big leagues.

You don't know how many times I have had to reject dumb trade offers from the AI.

That's far from the worst AI offer. The AI guy has been a ~1WAR guy in very limited action, whereas your guy just barely cracked 1 WAR in his 100 game 1963 season. Yeah, he's older and more expensive, but he has been more productive. You say your guy has better speed, but he doesn't use it, given that he's 14-18 career stealing, which is terrible.
To me it looks like a swap of marginally productive players. If you're going to complain about the trade AI, at least post deals that are hard or impossible to argue against. There's plenty of those

HP might want to turn it down, which is his choice of course, but it's pretty difficult to call it an objectively bad deal. His guy is a replacement player. The ai is offering a 2-3 win player (pro-rated). Last edited by Lukas Berger; 02-26-2016 at 05:42 PM. |

I could list all the backup catcher for #3 starter and top prospect trades I have been offered, but the list is too long to bother...

It's not so much a complaint (well a little) as it is me wishing for a way to virtually slam the phone on the other GM's face. It's an RPG thing. The Atlanta GM and the Philly GM won't have a strong working relationship after that phone call. FWIW, I'm mostly-good with the AI trade engine. The only true problem I have with the AI is that it doesn't understand the waiver wire.

No you wouldn't. You would realize that my guy is just starting out slow after an injury.

Yep, sure would if I was trying to win now.
As I mention, your guy is essentially a replacement player who you're giving too much playing time and the ai's offering a 2-3 win player who it's giving too little playing time. The ai's guy has been worth 15 wins in 3000 ab's. Your guy has been worth a little over 1 win in 1200 ab's. Last edited by Lukas Berger; 02-26-2016 at 05:52 PM. |

He's not really starting out slow though from what I can see. He's coming off a fluke year, which was the only halfway decent year of his entire career and was still worth less in that year than the ai's guy is on average, when you pro-rate the stats.

I think I figured out the problem. I think the problem is my AI trade evaluation settings.
I have too much weight on current year, too much weight on 2 years ago, and not enough on ratings.

Beyond that one year, he's been exactly replacement level and even in that one year he was only worth 1 win in around 400 ab's, which is barely above replacement level. You're clearly attached to him which is great, more power to you, but from what I can see here, it doesn't look like he's a very good player at all. That's just my opinion though. I may be wrong and even if I'm not there's no reason you have to see things the same way I do

But, in a nutshell and in layman's terms, both of these players are barely above replacement value scrubs. The difference is that one is old. I wouldn't trade for an older version of what is essentially the same player that happens to be more expensive. Oh, one more thing. My ball park is pitcher-friendly. The other guys only good stretch, really, was in NJ and that's hitter-friendly.

Hope you don't feel like we're picking on you. I just like discussing values and trades
![]() And obviously, the fact that the guy they're trying to deal to you has hit .180 the last couple years, at 36 you have to be hesitant about it. I also don't know what the finances in your league are like, if the 9k difference is really significant or not. If you translate that to modern finances, if that difference is like 5M to 7M, and you're a cash-strapped team, then yeah, the deal is loony. But if it's like going from 600k to 900k, and I was making a push for this season, I'd do the deal. But obviously your guy is younger and cheaper, and I'm always hesitant about a 36 year old, how much longer they have in the game, so if my end-goal is more than 1 year, I would reject, although obviously more politely than you seem to want to have done

OOTP developments has a long history of good relations with its customer base. I have nothing but good things to say about ya'll. I also get that this trade isn't that bad. It probably didn't even deserve a response from you. I probably should have thought about it a little bit more before posting this thread. I would have saved myself from looking like a petty troll.

Well..after reading this thread, and since i have also had interesting deals with the Trade AI myself, Markus has said that you guys have improved it.
When i read that feature, that was just even MORE icing on a delicious chocolate cake.

There IS sort of an option like that, it's the "I don't want this player" thingy that was the new mass select before the WBC was the new mass select.
