Ballpark factors

Hey Guys

Does anyone know how much of a factor ballparks play into the game? I play with Texas in one league and it seems that every above-average starter I acquire gets shelled. I've got guys like Kershaw and Sale pitching meh and a bunch of solid starters pitching atrociously. I even had to trade Bumgarner in his prime due to an extraordinarily high ERA. Do ballparks really factor that much into how the game develops?

The only thing you can really do is get SPs with really high GB% and get a monster IF, with great range and just hope the balls dont go in the air, because if they do then they are GONE!

Outside of the U.S, Xining and Kunming in my CBL / CBA dynasty is a very hitters park!

I know the hr modifyer matters, but are wall distances and heights just cosmetic? Or do they factor in?

They're cosmetic. Only park factors matter

Wall height has an impact on how many home runs get robbed.

Let's not forget the prevailing wind will impact HR's too. As well as local weather conditions such as cold (injuries up, hits down), rain (injuries up, errors up) or warmth (hitting up).

There's more...

Ball park factors have a very significant impact on a carefully planned roster. Especially in a fictional environment. If you have a park that either favors or penalizes on one side of the plate you should focus the handed-ness of your starting pitching in order to take advantage of your opponent.

Long-winded way of saying that the ballpark factors give you flexibility in creating a universe that produces a story the way that you want it to be told.

The more that you experiment, with restraint, the more controls you will realizes that you have at your disposal.

I've never really done that much with ballparks other than their capacity. Might play with wall height and the modifiers a bit, as if I need more to tinker with in OOTP.

Capacity is an exceptionally fun way of controlling market-size. There is no supply and demand programmed.

Or be the red-headed kid to the pumped-up AI. Tighten your opportunities to generate revenue and struggle to win.

Either way, which ever is more fun.

I should clarify that i only tweak stadium size for god mod sims. ;-)

On the other hand if you wanna simulate smaller cities losing out to bigger ones over time in a god mode, that is perfect, and very easy to manage. Sometimes i will put a team in debt after an upgrade, so they" pay" for a long term money gain.

Found another great hitters park. Not sure if this is teh sandlot from the movie but this is part of Gambo's set.

Edit: Just realized I had it set as dome in 1943, oppsie.

My current park in a historical fictional online league i'm In where it's 1908. Unfortunately its destroyed at end of season due to average factors not being realistic.
