Your 2015 Hall of Fame Ballot

The official ballot was released on November 24. I am linking to the Baseball Reference "potential ballot" here because it shows stats, position, and the prior year's voting totals.

Remember, you can vote for 10 or less. Please don't vote more than once. It would help if you include an initial or first name if voting for Pedro or Edgar Martinez.

Voting will close at midnight on January 2. I am not making this a poll because the maximum number of poll options is 15. Instead, I will tally the votes offline and release an update weekly.

My ballot:
Biggio
Johnson
P.Martinez
Smoltz
Mussina
Bagwell
Raines
Schilling
Trammell
Smith

There is also a "Golden Era" committee selection linked here in case you want to unofficially chime in on that.

My vote:
Ken Boyer
Gil Hodges

Lots of great players on that list.

Randy Johnson
Pedro Martinez
John Smoltz
Craig Biggio
Mike Piazza
Jeff Bagwell
Tim Raines
Lee Smith
Edgar Martinez
Jeff Kent

I might have voted for another one or two if I wasn't limited to 10.

For those who are interested, here is a link to our voting results from last year. We voted in the same three as the real voters plus Biggio and Bagwell.

Raines, Piazza, Mussina and Schilling also received strong support from our 45 voters. (For the record, gehrig38 did not vote for himself.)

Bonds and Clemens also got the nod from nearly half of our voters, after which four more pages of steroid discussion ensued.

The Martinez listed there is Edgar; Pedro is on the ballot for the first time this year.

Had to parse through Smoltz, Schilling, and Moose for the 10th spot. Still a tough call on those guys. And yes, I'm letting in some steroid users and not others. Too bad.

Maybe we should take those we voted in last year off this year's ballot?

I'd also like to vote for John Smoltz, Edgar Martinez, Tim Raines, Craig Biggio, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Gary Sheffield, and Jeff Kent because I think they all belong. However the BBWAA has allowed this backup to occur thanks to finally finding religion over the steroid issue, when they completely ignored it in the first place. Had they reported on it when everyone allegedly knew what was going on, we might not have this mess, but I guess it's too late for that, and really deserving candidates are now getting screwed and will continue to get screwed.

As for the "Golden Era" committee vote, I don't feel qualified to figure out if Bob Howsam belongs as an Executive because I can't look at what he did on the field. I suppose being a key cog in the Big Red Machine could be reason enough, but I find it much easier to evaluate players. I would vote for five players on the ballot:

Dick Allen
Ken Boyer
Minnie Minoso
Billy Pierce
Luis Tiant

You can take the top 2 off, they won't go in anytime soon.

-Tim Raines

I'd vote for "Sweet" Lou Whitaker too if he was on the ballot, but alas he's not, so you might want to pick another player here.

Then the BBWAA should get its collective head out of its ass and stop assuming that they are the moral compass of the game. They never had that job anyway and their role in not reporting PED use that they knew about makes them as guilty as any player. Nothing worse than fake post facto morality.
