I would like to work for OOTP Developments
Hello my name is Ray and I would enjoy working in a place with what seems like friendly people who are very genuine and helpful. As you know I made a topic about this issue before but that was my draft aha. If you need any contact information please let me know ahead of time because there could be some creepers on here (rdale) that would take advantage of that. I am currently 18 and eager to work in a friendly environment such as OOTP Developments, so please give it some thought and I hope to hear an answer #hireray
Just kidding rdale... P.S. Lets keep this #hireray going lets make it go trending lol everytime you post a new topic or comment at the end i encourage you to put that hashtag |

Thanks for your interest, but we're not hiring right now, except for the C++ developer Markus is looking for (see the OOTP 15 forum for more details).

Ray, you can do your own version of iOOTP with the use of Lahmann database.

Since you're jumping in on this thread and not the countless other threads which are more relevant at the moment, could you give us an update of when we can expect the new icon to be released?

I try to watch as many threads on the forums as I can. If I miss something and you'd like to bring it to my attention, feel free to PM me.
RE the iOOTP update, which will include a new game icon, among other things: It has been submitted again to Apple for approval. This is the third submission: The first time it was rejected for the size of the saved game file, which the reviewer said violated the iCloud policy, even though we have never enabled iCloud saving because we knew about said policy. Sebastian went back and forth with the reviewer and got nowhere, so he decided to try again and see if he got a new reviewer who might be easier to work with. The second time, they rejected it for the size of the save *and* the ad for OOTP 15 on the main screen. So, Sebastian removed that ad and submitted the update a third time. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about the size of the saved game, so we're hoping he can get it through. The iCloud policy violation has been brought up before, but each time Sebastian was able to finally get the game through after explaining that we don't enable iCloud saves. This time, they have either tightened their attitude toward that policy (or toward violations in general) or he has gotten bad luck with reviewers. Hopefully it's the latter and the update will be available soon. Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing that is completely out of our control. If it gets rejected again, Sebastian will have to see if he can go through an appeals process or something. |

This thread is cringe worthy.

What exactly is the rule? If it refers to only the size of iCloud saves, any dummy could look in their iCloud settings and see that iOOTP doesn't use iCloud. Thanks for the response. |

I don't know what the exact cut-off is for the size of saves, just that there is one.
I don't know if there's anything else in the rule beyond that as I'm not privy to everything developers can see. I just know what Sebastian has said. I'm not really sure why Apple has that size limit for saves. If the user maxes out their iCloud storage, isn't that their problem? iOS could provide a list of saves that are being backed up and the user could decide what to include and what not to include, so if you're only playing iOOTP, great; if you have a bunch of other stuff and want to exclude iOOTP, fine. Or you could buy more iCloud storage, which I would think Apple would be fine with. Maybe it's part of their "We just want things to work without users having to see how the sausage is made" philosophy, which works to a certain extent. At some point, though, you need to give people control over their experience and assume they know how to compare file sizes, or can learn how to. Okay, soapbox mode off. |
