WAR formula?
Just wondering how the game's WAR is calculated.

For Pitchers, it seems to be merely a function of FIP and IP. For batters, I guess it's more complicated.

Markus has said that he uses his own formula.
Which is kind of what everyone else does too.

I think WAR is great. But there's rWAR, bWAR, fWAR, MarkusWAR and the gods only know how many other versions of it. One day we will look back at where we are with WAR today and laugh, but right now, in whatever form, it's the best value tool that we have.
