How do I stop the AI from benching Ichiro?

Ichiro's in a slump, but I don't want him benched. I have my lineups all set up the way I want them, yet every time I try to start a game, the AI is subbing Jeremy Reed for Ichiro, then putting Johjima at the leadoff spot for some reason.

I've looked over the settings but can't find anything. I have it set up to sub certain players if they're tired, but I can't find anything for when they're slumping. Is it just the same thing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Assuming you're the GM of Seattle; go to your manager home page\manager options and make sure your name appears with all the team control settings.

AI won't sub your players when they're slumping only when they are tired or injured.

Tycobbler, thanks.

My name is set on all those settings, and it's still benching Ichiro. I even tried wiping out my lineups and redoing them all, and still nothing.

And now it looks like Ichiro isn't even tired, and they're still benching him! Something is screwed up.

Update: So I relented and let that game sim with Ichiro out, and now the rosters are back to normal. Not sure what happened, and I fear it will happen again.

Are you using 7-day lineups? My experience is that if you use the regular lineups only, the AI will make substitutions and change the batting order.

The only way to ensure the exact lineup and batting order you want is to use 7-day lineups and choose "no substitutes allowed".

Try going to your team home page and select Options and Ballparks. Where it says Roster AI check the box that says Prevent AI from making any roster changes, and lemmie know how it goes.

You are awesome. I had this unchecked. Thanks!

But if I have that box checked, will it still make the changes that I request in my lineups (i.e. my catcher sitting ever five days)?

Thanks to everyone who responded for helping a newbie.

Yeah, it will do that since you've told it to. It just won't randomly decide to sit Ichiro unless he's tired or you've set someone else to play every X days.
