Mac install - OOTP 8

I have 2007 installed on my Mac (completely up to date), and I'm trying to upgrade to OOTP 8, but I've downloaded it two times now and can't seem to get the installer to work.

I go into the "OOTP 8 Install" folder and open the "Mac Installer" file. The screen flashes, as if the installer were started, but nothing else happens. If I go into the Force Quit window, I see that the installer is marked "Not Responding".

When I go into the "data" folder and click on "installer.pkg", nothing happens.

I'm new to Macs, so I guess I might be doing something wrong...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the installer program needs some time to start
