FA comp, injuries and fatigue?

I am experiencing the same problem. I have the FA comp box checked, yet comp is not being assessed when I sign or when I lose players who are listed as being comp eligible.

I also cannot seem to find a way to see how long an injured player will be out or how long ago a pitcher last pitched. I loved the way it was listed in OOTP 2006. I am missing something? Or have these things been removed fro the game?

I'm going through the offseason in my league and have a type A I've given off to FA I should get a pick for... we'll see when he gets signed. If I don't get it I'll log the bug.
Mine is a 2006 imported fictional league, what kind of leagues are you guys running?

This is under the players status. You're probably seeing his morale smily faces instead. Just above that box (where this stuff used to be) there's a button "Show Status". Click that and it'll go to how many pitches he threw yesterday, 2 days ago, etc and if he's tired, OK, or injured and for how long. It's the lower left corner of the player profile.

Also, remember that the first 15 picks of the first round are protected. So, if the team that signed the player has one of these picks, then you wont get a pick.

And that is exactly why I turn this rule off... it just doesn't seem fair.

True, that's not the problem in this case though. The team that signed my FA picked 20th, and I won the world series and didn't lose my pick.

I never got confirmation, but it was said that if the first round pick was protected the team got a second round pick instead, etc. Of course, quite a few things that I was told were "fixed" weren't so I may be wrong again.

Just for reference, all of my beta testing time was spent working on the pbp... so this is actually only the second time I've gotten to "play" the game.

I too have the problem of none of the first round picks (or any picks at all) changing teams due to FA signings. At least I'm not the only one with this issue so it's probably not something I did.

I just posted about this in General Discussion. I too am not seeing any comp picks for any teams. Also, will there be a sandwich round for comp picks?

The game doesn't support sandwich picks.

This was claimed fixed in the first patch. If you continue to have trouble with this issue, please contact a moderator to reopen this thread.

I believe there are still problems with this as of the second patch. In my solo league I was supposed to get a 1st-round pick in compensation for the loss of a FA but never got it. And yes, I do have FA compensation enabled.

I wonder if the problem shows up variably depending on when you have the amateur draft scheduled. Mine is on June 15, and the FA was signed away early in the preceding December.

I'm sure the timing of the draft is not the issue. In OOTP 2006 (and I believe in OOTP 2007 as well, though I only patched recently and haven't checked thoroughly): if you lost a type A free agent to a team with one of the first 15 picks, you would receive a message saying that you were receiving a compensations pick in the 1st round, but since the first 15 picks are protected, the compensation pick wouldn't actually be awarded; you'd get nothing. If the team that signed your FA was in the bottom half of the league, that is likely the issue.

Another possibility is that the team that signed your type A free agent also signed a type A free agent from another team. In that case, their 1st round pick might have gone to the other team (and I think in that case, you don't even receive a message telling you that compensation has been awarded to you).

Because the current OOTP draft structure does not accommodate a sandwich round, it is difficult for the game to provide a flexible and fair compensation system. I still use it, but I accept that I'll lose some free agents for nothing, and that the game won't model MLB compensation completely. The compensation system won't be changed in the game soon, according to the response to this thread (and thanks, bp_, for the reply):

I'm running a first-year expansion team and I'm wondering if I'll actually get to use my picks. I've noticed that the Marlins/Rockies got the last two picks in the '93 draft but the Diamondbacks/Devil Rays didn't draft anyone in the '98 draft - can someone explain?

Expansion teams definitely get draft picks in their first season in OOTP. They may not get the first overall picks in the draft, however; the expansion team's record on draft day is used and compared with the previous year's standings in the league to determine draft position. So an expansion team that is around .500 when their first draft rolls around will probably have a pick around the middle of the first round. At least, that's how it worked before the latest patch- I haven't run an expansion since patching.

I don't know why the Devil Rays and Diamondbacks didn't have first rounders in their first year (they did draft, at least from the third round on), and would be curious to find out!

No, it certainly wasn't that, I think, because I should have gotten their 2nd-rounder and that didn't happen.

That's an interesting issue. I did receive the compensation message, however, that's why I was looking for the extra pick in the amateur draft.

Yes, I agree with you and can live with it. I simply wanted to notify Markus of the "bug, if that's what it was.
