Two or Three Sub-Leagues?

I recall there was some talk about allowing three sub-leagues as opposed to just two (the MLB model), and Marcus posted that he could code it if presented with a good reason or good reasons to include it. I remember there was some talk about 'what-if' scenarios concerning the PCL coming in and that would be a reason to allow three sub-leagues per primary league. I don't remember seeing anything else about it and I don't think Marcus ever made mention of it again after that.

So does that mean the two sub-leagues per league is confirmed, or is there still hope for three? I ask because I'm developing a potential league that could well use the three sub-league feature, but just wanted to post before getting to deep into team/nickname/logo creation.

The league setup (as I have it now) would be:

1. Western League (8 teams)
2. Southern League (8 teams)
3. Atlantic League (8 teams)

24-teams in three sub-leagues. Each league probably broken down into two 4-team divisions. But I would want them all under the umbrella of the main league for playoff purposes, etc.

Thanks in advance (and forgive me if this has been determined already, but I couldn't find solid confirmation either way).

I believe the only options in this version are 1 or 2 . . .

You can have three or six divisions and as long as you have an even number of teams in your league, you can probably run this setup within the confines of one sub-league. With a custom schedule, this could work...maybe.

Yeah, I figured that, but I wouldn't be able to have my division within each sub-league that way. I'll probably just go with the three division, eight-teams per division setup and see how it goes

Thanks for the quick respones.

Yeah. I had my ideas blown out of the water too. I guess I still don't really understand why they would allow the creation of all these leagues but not build in the ability to have linkage between the leagues or to have more than two sub-leagues. It completely takes the thrill out of creating more than one league (atleast for me).

The reason I was given in another thread a while ago for not including these options (linkage and/or multiple subleagues) is that it strays too far from reality. I still don't see though how that would compromise the integrity of simulating true baseball.

Or maybe, it's really a coding issue? It seems to me though there are alot more complicated things going on than this in the game. Then again, I know absolutely zip about computer programming and consider the whole thing miraculous to begin with.

Since the game was being rewritten from scratch, I would expect there was only so much time in which to write the new engine and incorporate the (very long) list of features people wanted and which might have been in previous versions.

I would think you'll see improvements in this area in next year's version. As the old saying goes, Rome wasn't built in a day...

OK. Fair enough.

I guess I'll just content myself on creating one of my planned leagues/sub-leagues with this version and hope that in the next version I'll be able to import in my already existing league and build the rest of my plans around it.
