Fictional league starting - a request to the community
Hi everyone!
Okay, here's the deal. I had previously been toying with the idea of creating my own .lg for the 2005 MLB season. After some work on it, I started to get irritated with my limitations on adjusting the history (namely the duplicates in the career leaderboard and the inability to accurately show 2004 stats on the quick stat view thingy). Minor things, I know, but I'm picky like that. So I started to toss the idea of a fictional league around. After some thought on the matter, I've come up with a pretty good basis for it. However, I have a problem. When I follow the actual Major League season, I find myself not only watching the standing and scoreboards, but I also track specific players. Favorites, if you will. I believe this is done by quite a few people, as evidenced by the fantasy baseball boom of the last 10 years or so. I also find myself doing this in OOTP, MVP Baseball, hell any baseball game I've played. As an aside, I also create myself and put myself into almost every single baseball game I play. I'd like to think this is relatively normal, but if you can't relate to that while reading this, then you better stop reading RIGHT THIS INSTANT! Okay, now that all the posers have left the thread. This is what I need from the OOTP community. I'm creating teams and players from scratch, with no records and no stats as of yet. To make my league appealing, however, I need to implement those "have-to-watch" players. Mind you, I can invent some personalities of my own, and have in the past (to stock up my poor Royals' farm system), but I figure why not turn some of it over to you guys? You give me players, I put them into my league. (Granted, this may have already been done before, but not by me!) With the added flavor of all the suggestions I get from you guys, the league would really come alive, in my opinion. Also, for those interested, I would be doing a AARP on the Dynasty forums, so you could even tag along for the ride to see how your suggestions do, and if there was enough interest I'd put the .lg up for download as well. What I need are: -Names, bio stats (your own or imaginary) -Personalities (I know, sounds useless, but I'm a nut. I get a vision of a what a guy acts like just by creating a name and some bio-stats. Plus, this would help in the AARP department for "post-game interviews" and such) -Type of player (Slugger, stick-man, fireballer, crafty vet...this will obviously figure into the player's creation quite heavily) -Team he should be on. Choices are Portland, Vancouver, Bismarck, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Green Bay, Ottawa, Detroit, New York, Chicago, Indianapolis, Miami, New Orleans, Charlotte, Louisville, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Tucson, New Mexico, and San Antonio (surnames to be decided) Help a brotha out! You can drop suggestions in this thread, or PM them to me through the board, or just send an e-mail to deftilicious@hotmail.com . Thanks! |

Danny "Danderoo" Church...born New Orleans, Louisiana...22 years old...played at University of New Orleans...started 4 years at shortstop...hometown boy...SS/3B...great hands...only average range...great arm...makes few errors (.980 FA)...smart player...great fundamentals...really know the game...like having a manager on the field...great eye...makes pitchers work a lot...good contact hitter...hit .285 in college...average speed, but great baserunner...great bunter...not a lot of power...hits doubles mainly...few triples...a few homers...walks a lot...doesn't strike out a lot...will make a great manager or high school/college coach one day...good quiet leader...easygoing perfectionist and overachiever...a hustler...run on and off the field between innings...runs out all groundballs...even obvious outs...never gives up...durable...never injured...plays everyday...great sportsman...never argues with umpires.
Put him on New Orleans roster. He will never leave the team...too dedicated to his hometown. Last edited by Eugene Church; 06-15-2005 at 03:42 PM. |

Just a suggestion:
You might put this thread on the OOTP6 Discussions Forum. You would probably get a lot more interest. More viewers there. |
