Wow, what a surprise!! 6.5??? Don't you love it when you don't visit a game forum for a few weeks and return to discover a new product is available that you didn't expect to be made??

Yes, I'll buy it. Can't beat the price, can't beat the product. I'm still chomping at the bit for 7, but if given the choice between settling for a few screenshots of v.7 this summer to tide me over or having an opportunity to play a precursor, I'd choose the precursor.

Heavens no ! I did play 1 game per week, and 1-2 playoff games per series. The rest of the games, simmed, but I did look at every boxscore (for my team).

I bought 6 a couple of days ago. I'm having a hard time really getting into 6 though. I think I'm having a tough time letting go of my OOTP4 career. Plus I'm using a downloaded real player roster set for 6. I think I'm going to have to go with a fictional league to have a chance to enjoy 6.

Without a doubt. Any notable improvement with additional features is worth $10.

You'd think people would get the "patch" vs "expansion" idea by now...

You are trying to give people way too much credit.

LOL... I think it's more a matter of chosen observation Some simply will not accept that this could be considered worth something - so they continue to call it a patch. It seems, however, about 90% feel otherwise.

As I said in another thread earlier, I have a co-worker who believes that the Chevy Uplander is an SUV and becomes quite ticked if you tell him it is a mini-van (despite the fact Chevy labels it as such). If these people feel that they can change what the expansion is because that's how they see it, they must also support my colleague in his beliefs as well....

Look at the feature list...

Quote:
- New player evaluation algorythm, resulting in smarter AI throughout the game
- Reworked AI roster handling
- Team focus indicating if the team has a win-now, rebuild or normal focus, influencing trades, signings and roster AI
- 7-day lineups screen, allowing you to set the lineups for the next seven days
- Trading of draft picks in online leagues
- Milestone Watch and Projected Leaders screens
THis is all crap they used to put in patches for free, now all of a sudden they want us to pay 10 bucks? If you actually put aside your fanboyishness for one moment and THOUGHT about it,you would see that this is nothing more than greed at its finest.

Or, you can look at it from the point of view that we had been receiving a lot of what could have been "upgrades" for free...

Most undoubtedly yes. A great move by OOTPD, in my book.

Ah right. If we don't agree with you we're stupid.

Bingo. I think Markus has been most generous by giving us as much free as he has through the years. He really had no obligation to ever give us new features after the product had been released, just to fix bugs.

There are more civil ways to make your point, but you do what you gotta do.

That's your opinion QR. If that's what you truly believe, fine. Not everyone will agree with you though and you have to accept that. For me, it's a glass half empty type of situation. Should you be thankful that you got free content update before and that it might happen again in the future with 7? Or do you take the view that the game is going to hell since Markus made a larger content update and sold it as an expansion?

I don't really think the game is "going to hell" over this. I'm buying version 7 hands down, there is no question about it. However,I won't pay for patches that before we got for free.

You cannot use the argument of "well this isnt a patch, its adding features/etc" because already in the past they have added features and given it to us for free. Seems to me they got together and said:

"you know what,we can put out these MINOR upgrades and sell them instead of just giving them away for free. That equals more money for us in the end"

I admit that irritates me a bit. When I saw "Out of the Park Baseball 6.5 Expansion Pack Announced " I was thinking "oh cool, this is going to add a boatload of features and some new interface options/etc"...but then I see there are like 6 very small upgrades, one of which has been claimed a dozen other time in patches. "making the AI more realistic across the board"

Markus, please focus on OOTP7,please don't release patches and call them expansion packs and then charge for them.
