Dewerson wins his first batting title (won by 19 points)

Lage was 16 home runs behind Hines for AL leader

Yags improved his home run rate a lot

James has locked in his position at this point in San Diego

Dewerson's .351 batting average is the highest single season batting average from a player in his age 22 or younger season since Alex Rodriguez in 1996 at the age of 20 when he hit .358 and is the 9th highest single season average for a player 22 or younger.

Anthony Yaghmour is eligible as a Super 2 arbitration player

His expected salary range is $2.3M for his first time eligible, but the Rockies are offering Yaghmour a 6 year contract.

2025 - Yaghmour age 25 season - $2,120,000
2026 - Yag age 26 season - $3,600,000
2027 - Yag age 27 season - $8,400,000
2028 - Yag age 28 season - $13,200,000
Then there is an opt-out for the player, in what would be Yag's free agency time any way
2029 - if opted in by Yag - age 29 season - $16,800,000
2030 - it opted in by Yag - age 30 season - $16,800,000

No incentives in the contract

This promises Yaghmour $60,920,000 over the next 6 years, and still allows him to reach free agency after his age 28 season, something he is already on pace for.

It does pay him slightly less through arbitration than he could probably get.

So, does Anthony Yaghmour accept this contract or go to arbitration with the Rockies for the 2025 season?

Jeffrey Lage has accepted a 10 year contract extension with the Baltimore Orioles

2025 - $1,100,000 (pre-arbitration season)
2026 - $3,800,000 (first year of arbitration as super 2)
2027 - $9,500,000
Player opt-out
2028 - $14,500,000
2029 - $19,000,000
Would be free agent
2030 - $24,000,000
2031 - $24,000,000
2032 - $24,000,000
2033 - $24,000,000
Player opt-out
2034 - $24,000,000

Lage can earn up to $167,900,000 over 10 years, and can still opt-out of the deal after his first arbitration season.

Dave Dewerson, who is not yet eligible for arbitration until the 2026 season, has been given a 9 year contract extension offer

2025 - age 23 season - $2,200,000
2026 - age 24 season and first year of arbitration eligibility - $3,800,000
2027 - age 25 season - $6,000,000
2028 - age 26 season - $10,500,000
2029 - age 27 season - $14,000,000
would be a free agent in this off-season
2030 - age 28 season - $18,000,000
Player opt-out
2031 - age 29 season - $18,000,000
2032 - age 30 season - $18,000,000
Player opt-out
2033 - age 31 season - $18,000,000

Dewerson would be delaying his free agency one season for the promise of at least $108,500,000 over 9 years, and arbitration control and set money in the front half of his deal.

Feel free to ask any questions related to the roster or anything you may want to know. Do you accept this offer or do you want another year at the league minimum and then go to arbitration?

Randy James did not get a contract extension offer, and is under league minimum for next season, he should be first time arbitration eligible in the 2026 season.

I want to go to arbitration. I'd prefer not to be locked to a long term deal (even with the opt out) in Coors field lol

As we approach the all star break, Dewerson had a 25 game hit streak in April

Dewerson and Lage were both selected to their first All-Star Game.

Bump.

(No pressure, Jeffy, but I just don't want this thread to be lost in the back pages.)
