And yet one more reason - boxing is a fun sport to watch.

Despite what all those namby pamby people who want to ban it say.

Allan does seem to be a nice guy but his handlers and people around him have seemed to have gotten into his head that he is better than what he really is. I bet these same people who say they truly want him to succeed in the sport will drop him once he loses to Miranda. The only ones that are benefiting from this are the promoters who will probably make a substancial amount of money off his name and noteriety of beating a highly decorated amateur with potential.

That being said, Allan's career has been made up of carefully picked opponents and if I was his promoter, he would still be facing guys right below the contenders (eg. Reid, Pemberton, and Sheika). He definitely needs that type of experience before facing any good or top fighters in the SMW division. This kid is nowhere ready to face someone like Miranda.

See that's part of the problem here, while I think Green could be good, he has faced no one as of yet. I mean no one. You can't name one even below average fighter on his resume.

If he had paid his dues against the Pemberton's Sheika's and so on then someone could have some hope. At least Lacy fought those guys before stepping in against Calzaghe. Miranda is one of the top 5 MW's and Green has just bitten off more than he can chew. I hope he can bounce back from this.

Oh yeah I'm watching the showtime fights Saturday night and recording the HBO fights. So if Green wins I won't be on until around noon on Sunday to eat my crow LOL

Actually he hasn't done that bad. 5-0 against decent competition including Carl Daniels and Thomas Reid. Those two wins are as good as anything Green has on his resume. Of course Daniels is 3-7 in his last 10 and Reid is 4-6. So you know.

Looking at Greens' resume Anthony Bonsante might be his best win .. that's not something you want to hold up going into a fight with a guy like Miranda.

I really wasn't rooting for either guy until Zima went all fanboy on us LOL. Either way I'll be on here with congrats to Zima if Green steps up big in the fight.

Edison's HP is probably around "11" at MW. Bad things are going to happen when he starts connecting against Allan. Ask perennial contender Howard Eastman and world champion Arthur Abraham how hard this guy hits. Green is in trouble, simple as that.
Check out a certain fighter in the Retired MW division of TBCB if you think a guy with only a 5 HP could not floor a lot of fighters with a fair to good chin. Save you looking i will give you his name *Sugar Ray Robinson* considered by many including Ali himself as the best P4P fighter ever. Dont worry Mr Big i know you forgot and there is no comparison but i could not resist the temptation to post this

Whatever killer instinct Codrington did have is now gone and doesn't go for the kill when he has an opponent hurt. Chris Gotti has single handedly ruined Codrington's career.

Yeah I was going off of boxrec, I noticed he knocked both vets down but didn't finish them. Who was Gotti's other guy that got KTFO also?

The other half of the "Chin Checkers", Curtis Stevens. He lost to well traveled veteran Marcos Primera who has fought a lot of top fighters from WW to MW. Stevens was winning the fight on all cards and he got caught with a good punch and was stunned and ref stopped it because he wasn't throwing punches and in the process was taking unecessary punishment. He has avenged the loss to Primera four months later and since then has won the New York State LHW Title.

Yes, I am between Knoxville and Nashville. Was kind of a last minute trip. Definitely need to get together sometime.

I see your point, but, as stated, Donnie McCrary is no Sugar Ray Robinson. Also, in all honesty, I think I might place Robinson's HP higher than a "5" at middleweight. Will have to investigate further before making a final decision. Do you think that 5 is a correct rating?

Has anyone realized that this fight is taking place in Miranda's backyard? (San Juan, Puerto Rico). Boxrec lists this as his hometown. (Although he was born in Buenaventura, Columbia). The location really puts added pressure on Green to try and stop him, possibly luring him into a slugfest. I don't know about you guys, but with the added factor of homefield advantage, I'm liking Edison's chances even more than before.

Maybe we should get you, Fuente and the wives or g/f's to the house for Oscar/Floyd ... if the weather cooperates we could do pool and bbq during the day then fight at night.

I haven't seen him fight since the Green fight but him lacking KI doesn't surprise me - that was one brutal loss he suffered. I'm happy he wasn't killed because I thought that might be the case when I saw it live on TV.

I thought the Morrison beating at the hands of Mercer was far more violent

Wasn't that over 5 rounds though?

For 2 guys who were both hyped coming, it's tough to beat Green's blowout because it was so quick & brutal.

Quick yes ... I think Morrison's was more brutal though .. esp because of the lame brained ref who allowed Mercer to land at least 5 shots while Morrison was out cold in a sitting position against the turnstyle. Green was one solid punch, Mercer hit Morrison about 10 times after Morrison was out (at least from memory)

as far as one punch Ko's go I'd put Peter's KO of Jeremy Williams as far more devasting than Green's
