I wonder if this was a surprise to anyone in the North East. I would believe that McGinest still has a couple of good years left in him, but, does anyone have the stats handy on his season say the last 3 years?

Just wondered.

2003 - 67 tackles, 1 INT, 6 sacks, 2 FF
2004 - 51 tackles, 1 INT, 10 sacks, 2 FF
2005 - 57 tackles, 0 INT, 6 sacks, 0 FF

Not the most overwhelmingly impressive numbers in the world, but very consistent. The big question is whether or not, at 34, he can put those same numbers up for the next couple of years.

He's perfect for Belichick. If you look at all of the Pats D-Line numbers, they are the same. Perfectly symmetrical.

He will be resigned. He loves the area and he loves the team. I honestly can't see him going anywhere else.

Though this does sadden me. Tremendously. Even more so than if they don't resign Vinatieri, which would be a big mistake.

Yeah Willie will end up back in NE for a lower cap number. Vinatieri I'm less certain about, though I think it's better than 50-50. I wonder what they'll do at CB. Ty Law's return at the right price would be a huge boon to the Pats.

Willie will probably be back in a Patriots uniform next year. Just my two cents.

Since I'm pretty certain that McGinest, Vinatieri, and Givens are going to resign...this is the biggest plotline of the offseason for New England. Getting Ty Law back (at the right price, as you say), would be the talk of the town. Of course, I don't think anyone has any idea what his worth is going to be though. You could probably say that about any player.

In other news, the Pats did resign Terrell Hawkins. What that means, I don't know.

Per ESPN, Bruce will return to the Rams. Not a Rams or Bruce fan, but glad to see it happen.

The Bucs have cut Brian Griese, but may end up bringing him back.

It just wouldn't be the same seeing him anywhere else.

The Cardinals made a big splash in the free-agent market Sunday, agreeing in principle to a contract with running back Edgerrin James, a source close to the team told ESPN.com.

James' deal is for four years, the Arizona Republic reported, although financial terms were not immediately available.

The Eagles have officially terminated the contract of Terrell Owens and the Texans have cut ties with defensive end Gary Walker.

Kind of surprised it took this long.

Apparently they had him 'free' the first five days of free agency, but owed him a $5M roster bonus after that. So they clung to him trying to net a draft pick in return, but no one bit.
