Mellio is a huge addition for us, the cat we had there before manage one whole win. I'm expecting Mellio to give us about 8 or so wins and about 2 or 3 knockouts. Kermit Cintron should give me 6 or so wins and a similar number of KOs. Even as a beginner he'll be a threat to most people just due to his HP. The best thing about our team last year was our knockout power and I think the two cats I added will provide us with far more then the guys we had last year. I really think we've got a good chance at winning our division and the overall championship. It'll be tough though as I think the other teams in the division have really improved as well.

Well, we made it through the draft pretty good seeing we didn't have the rules laid out in concrete.
I'm waiting on Punching Gatitos and The Hilltoppers(Ian is currently working on his) roster cuts and then our expansion teams can submit their rosters. Hang in there bear. I know Ian would like to trade Flyweight (6)Dennis Adams 3-4-1 (1) before he makes his cuts if anybody is interested. The rest of you, check your rosters on page 1 one more time and make sure they're correct. I'll have the new an improved UTBA Rules posted here today or tomorrow. Everybody needs to read them carefully and discuss what you want added or dropped before we start season 2. Last edited by SAL; 08-30-2006 at 01:22 AM. |

My team
Well I tried to get more balanced ... all my fighters except Arguello are between 8 and 5 rated. May have to sit still next off season and let these guys mature. LH-WW seem to be my biggest weak spots despite Johnson winning the Championship. I can't imagine he will be the champ come next tourney. It might change hands a few times. I'd be happy if he put together another 14-4 year though. Hall needs to do better than 4 wins. If not that might be where I downgrade the next year.
If they aren't gonna do any better than 4 wins, I might as well have a 3 rated fighter there. First round maybe my only pick this coming offseason. Got to have a better year out of Arguello. There were two real keys in my trade with Chris in the offseason for it to be a success for me. 1) get Arce 2) Gonzalez turning it around. 50% of the way there. Your Season 2 Bald Beavers
HW
(8)Ike Ibeabuchi 14-5-0 (10) * pre-prime (7)David Tua 6-12-0 (5) * pre-prime LHW (7)Battling Siki 8-7-2 (6) * pre-prime (6)Eddie Cotton 14-6-0 (8) * pre-prime MW (11)Mickey Walker 20-0-0 (15) * pre-prime - UTBA Champion (9)Carmen Basilio 17-2-0 (9) * pre-prime WW (6)Carlos Quintana 11-7-0 (4) * pre-prime (6)Mark Breland 15-4-0 (9) * pre-prime LW (5)Lew Jenkins 9-6-1 (0) * pre-prime (5)Al Davis 7-8-1 (5) * pre-prime FW (4)Torpedo Billy Murphy 0-0-0 (0) * beginning (7)Bernard Taylor 11-6-2 (4) * pre-prime BW (8)Johnny Carter 7-7-2 (2) * beginning (4)Rodolfo Martinez 4-7-3 (3) *pre-prime Fly (6)Luis Maldonado 7-8-0 (3) *beginning (4)Young Perez 7-8-2 (2) * pre-prime Maldonado and Martinez come over in trades, making Torpedo Murphy the only rookie on the Beaver squad. Getting Tua for Maher late last season was a big boon for the Beavers, making this draft not quite as critical. I'm a couple of points under cap, so a trade for an upgrade is still possible. I like the team going in, but who's to say how it will pan out. Last edited by bigMatt; 08-30-2006 at 10:39 AM. |

Here is a set of the revised rules for the UTBA.
Nothing is set in stone until we start season 2. Everybody can either accept them the way they are or make suggestions on what to change. These rules are just guidelines until they are approved by the managers of the UTBA. I've tried to highlight in blue anything that has changed from the original rules. The Universal Team Boxing Association - (UTBA) The Universal Team Boxing Association was created in hopes of bringing team competition to the sport of boxing. The league will consist of 16 human controlled teams using the eight original weight divisions and the stock database of fighters from the game. The UTBA League will operate as follows: The league will consist of: 1) Two Conferences ( Gold & Silver ) 2) There will be Eight teams in each conference and both conferences will be split into two divisions each. (The Gold Conference will have an East and West division). (The Silver Conference will have a North and South division). 3) There will be 16 boxers on each team, two boxers per each of the 8 original weight classes. (Only the stock database of fighters will be used) RULES of the UTBA: 1) Team Matches will be run every Monday 4:00 pm CST through Wednesday 6:00 pm CST. 2) A season will consist of 10 team matches. 3) Teams will face all the teams in their respective divisions two times per season and will face the other four teams that are not in their division but in their conference one time during a season. 4) Team versus team will operate as follows: A boxer will face both boxers of the same weight class from the team they are matched up against one time each. Example: Boxer #1-(HW) of team A will face boxers #1-(HW) & #2-(HW) of team B Boxer #2-(HW) of team A will face boxers #1-(HW) & #2-(HW) of team B 5) All bouts in team matches will be scheduled for 12 rounds. Except for tournaments. (see tournaments below) 6) Boxers will earn points for their team as follows: 3 points - for a KO or TKO win 2 points - for a win on points or by DQ 1 point - for all draws 0 points - for a loss -1 point - for a DQ loss 7) Teams will be allowed to make roster adjustments to their team by: End of the season draft, Trades (rules posted below) or Free Agents (rules posted below) 8) At the end of a season, all teams will be allowed to release up to three boxers and replace them with boxers from the draft/free agent pool. (Rules for releasing & drafting posted below) AGING of FIGHTERS: Fighters will age as follows: The aging option in the game will be used and all fighters will start at the beginning setting when joining a team for the first time. Aging range: move to pre-prime........10 / 20 move to prime............20 / 50 move to post-prime.......30 / 65 move to end..............15 / 50 move to retired..........10 / 35 INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS: Fighters in both the Gold & Silver Conference will be ranked together REFEREES & JUDGES: Both will be selected by random for all bouts SCORING of BOUTS: 10 point must Tech.Draw through 5 rounds/scorecard after 5 Only the Referee can stop the bout 3 Judges will score No 3 knockdown rule No standing 8 count TOURNAMENTS: There will be two tournaments held at the end of each season. The UTBA Team Championship: 1) Four teams will qualify for the Team Championship tournament. 2) There will be a two round playoff. The highest scoring teams in all four divisions will qualify for the playoffs. The four teams that qualify will be seeded according to their teams total points accumulated during the season. Highest scoring team gets the #1 seed, 2nd highest scoring gets the #2 seed, 3rd highest scoring gets the #3 seed and the 4th highest scoring gets the #4 seed. Playoff format will be as follows: First round: #1 vs. #4 #2 vs. #3 Second Round: The two winners of the first round will meet to determine the UTBA Team Champion Individual Tournaments: The top 15 ranked fighters and the individual champion in each weight class will take part in a 16-man showdown tournament to determine individual champion. 3) All tournament bouts will be scheduled for 15 rounds. 4) All champions (individual or team) will fight the entire next season with champion bias selected on two of the judges scoring. One judge will score it non-bias. 5) Individual Championship Titles will be at stake in every fight. An individual champion will automatically be seeded #1 in the year end tournament. SALARY CAP: 1) All teams will have a 105 rating points cap. INJURIES: The injury option in the game will be used for all team matches and individual tournaments. 1) Any fighter that is injured will have to sit out for two rounds of action. 2) A team that has lost a fighter to injury will be allowed to replace him with a fighter from the draft/free agent pool. When an injured fighter returns to action, the replacement fighter will be returned to the draft pool. 3) A team must remain under the 105 point cap rule when filling vacancies. DRAFT/FREE AGENT POOL: 1) New boxers will be randomly added at the end of each season to stock the draft pool. The new draft list will be posted after the tournaments have been run and one week before the draft. The draft/free agent pool will be stocked each year with 16-50 new fighters. The ratings of these fighters will range from 3-10 with 5 to 6 wild card fighters(see Wild Cards) being added to the draft/free agent pool. All managers are encouraged to nominate fighters they would like to see added to the draft. If the nominated fighter's rating is the same as one of the fighters that has been added to the draft/free agent pool, the nominated fighter will replace the fighter that was added to the draft pool. Wild Cards: There will be an additional 5-6 wildcard entries to be selected by the commissioner. Out of the 5-6 wildcards, the commissioner would randomly choose the ratings of these choices. The inclusion of a 12+ rated fighter should be a rare occurance so some sort of random selection should be decided upon. Random Chart for Selecting Wild Cards: (provided by Romultiltus) Random # selected (out of 100): 91-100: 12+ rated fighter 81-90: 10 or 11 rated fighter 71-80: 8 or 9 rated fighter 51-70: 7 rated fighter 36-50: 6 rated fighter 20-35: 5 rated fighter 0-20: 3 or 4 rated fighter If the 91-100 pops up then another random number should be selected to find out this 'superstar' rated fighter 91-100: 15 rated fighter 76-90: 14 rated fighter 51-75: 13 rated fighter 0-50: 12 rated fighter DRAFTING: 1)The draft will be announced one week prior to the start time of the draft. 2) The order in which teams will draft(straight draft); the team with the worst point total at the end of a season will have the first pick, the team with the 2nd worst point total will have second pick…..and so on. 3) Draft Times: Starts on a Friday night 7:00 pm CST and will close Saturday 1:00 am CST. Open on Saturday 9:00 am CST and will close 12:00 midnight CST. Open on Sunday at 9:00 am CST and will close 12:00 midnight CST. * If necessary, the draft will open on Monday night 7:00 pm CST and will close midnight CST to finish the draft. 4) Once the draft begins, teams will have one hour to make a selection. If the one hour has elapsed and a team has not made a selection, their draft pick will be forfeited and the draft selection will proceed to the next team. Each manager is responsible for watching the draft to see when their turn comes up. Your one hour on the clock begins as soon as the team prior to your pick has either made a selection or his turn was forfeited. *note* If you think there is a chance you may not be available to make your selection when it's your turn to pick, you may send a PM to the commissioner(Sal) with your picks stated in the order of priority that you want, and I'll make the selection for you based on your list. Do not send a list saying just pick the best talent available. If you are more specific like pick the highest rated HW left in the draft, I will accept that. 5) All teams will draft for the entire three rounds before any roster cuts are made to get under the 105 point cap. Once the draft is over, all managers will have two days to release fighters from their roster to get their cap point total under 105. TRADES: Trade Deadline 1) Throughout the season, managers can trade fighters or draft picks with other managers. In an effort to keep the integrity of the league, a deadline will be imposed every Monday 4:00 pm CST through Wednesday 6:00pm CST. No trades will be allowed during that time. All trades will be subject to approval by the commissioner. 2) A team must remain under the 105 rating points cap. 3) If a trade leaves a team with a vacant spot on their roster, they must replace the vacancy from the draft/free agent pool. This vacancy will be filled by the waiver wire rules posted under free agents section. 4) If a trade leaves a team with more than 16 fighters on their roster, they must reduce their roster number to 16 by releasing the extra fighters to the draft/free agent pool while remaining at the 105 cap point rule or under. FREE AGENTS: All fighters in the Draft/Free Agent Pool will be available at all times. Throughout the season you may want to improve your roster by adding available free agents and release fighters that are not performing up to your expectations. You can submit a free agent request by PM to the commissioner. The deadline for picking up free agents will be Monday 4:00 pm CST every game week and will open again at Wednesday 6:00 pm CST. Requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served using the Waiver process. (see Waivers below) There will be a limit of 3 Add/Drops per week that you can request. When submitting your free agent request by PM, you must state who you want from the Draft/Free Agent Pool and who you will be releasing from your roster. When requesting and releasing fighters through the waiver process, all teams must remain at or under the 105 point cap when the transaction is complete. Any free agent transaction that leaves a team over the 105 point cap will have their selections voided and the selected fighter(s) will be returned to the draft/free agent pool and made available to the next legal waiver request. If you have a voided selection, you will not be notified of the voided transaction(s) before the start of next weeks round action. All awarded free agents will be announced on Monday prior to the start of the leagues weekly team matches. WAIVERS: To provide an equal opportunity to all managers to add fighters to their roster that are new to the Draft/Free Agent Pool, a Waiver process is used. Fighters that you request by PM will be put in a pending status. This allows multiple teams to request the same fighters. The order these requests are processed is based on the Waiver Rank of each team. WAIVER RANK: 1. Lowest point total 2. Second lowest point total 3. Third lowest point total........following this pattern down to 16. (highest scoring team) The waiver ranks will change after each weeks of action. Pending transactions are processed in an order determined by each teams waiver rank. A team with a waiver rank of 1, considered the highest, will get its requested selection first. After the transaction is executed, the team's waiver rank is then set to 16 (last), and all other teams waiver rank move up one. If a teams number one requested fighter becomes invalid because another team received the requested fighter first, the requested fighter is deleted and the teams second request if available becomes that teams number one request. When requesting and releasing fighters through the waiver process, all teams must remain at or under the 105 point cap when the transaction is complete. If awarded a waiver selection, it will become effective immediately. All awarded free agents will be announced on Monday prior to the start of the leagues weekly team matches. EXPANSION TEAMS: 1)Expansion teams joining the league will start with a 95 rating points cap for the first year. All expansion teams will select two fighters in each of the 8 original weight classes (HW,LHW,MW,WW,LW,FW,BW & Fly) using the following guidline for drafting their team. 2 fighters rated 9 2 fighters rated 8 2 fighters rated 7 3 fighters rated 6 3 fighters rated 5 2 fighters rated 4 2 fighters rated 3 1)Expansion teams can select fighters from the stock database in the original weight classes(no Jr. or super classes) and they can also choose from the leagues draft/free agent pool. Expansion teams will be notified by the commissioner when it is time to submit their roster. 2) If two or more expansion teams are submitting a roster, they will be submitted to the commissioner at the same time. If there are any duplications of selections on two or more rosters, the commissioner will scratch those choices from the submitted roster and notify the expansion teams stating that they had a fighter scratched and they need to make another selection. 3)After an expansion team has assembled their initial roster and it is made official, their cap will move to 105 points. 4) Expansion teams will not be allowed to participate in the free agents in their first season. They can however try to improve their team with trades which would allow them movement toward the 105 point cap limit. Last edited by SAL; 09-02-2006 at 05:05 PM. |

I like the new rules and see nothing wrong with them. So you have my vote for adding in all of the new rules. They should make running next year's draft alot smoother.

Since Catalion is away for Holidays and I'm not sure when he will be back, I'll select the cuts for his roster. That will leave just Ian to make his cuts and I'm sure that will be done in the next 24 hours.
After Ian makes his cuts, the expansion teams can submit their rosters to me and we can soon start season 2. The Punching Gatitos release, LW Lazlo Bognar and FW's (6)Percy Lewis & (5)Pierre Cossemyns. The rosters and draft pool have been updated. |

The only change I would make, which is minor, is calling them Gold and Silver Conferences and East and West Divisions.

Lethal Liberal, your going to have to talk to SAL about joining the league. I know we got two teams joining this season but I don't know if SAL wants to add anymore at the moment your best bet is to PM him.
