Sorry guys. Had some stuff that needed doing this week (preparing for my son's 2nd birthday), so this took an obvious back seat. Will be back at work on this today.

OK, all the uniform numbers are done except Negro League/Japanese players because I can't find access to those. Also, the ratings for the amateur draftees have been revised. Hopefully I'll be able to get this version uploaded tomorrow.

Version 2.2 of the Franchise Stars Roster Project has been released.

You may download it HERE

New in v2.2
· Negro league and Japanese players have been re-rated based on further research. Japanese figures were based on career stats and a correlation between Ichiro, Hideki and Kaz Matsuis numbers relative to Japan. A few of these numbers seem high and will likely be lowered, but they are talents right now with low current ratings (since most are draftees for the first amateur draft). So a lot can happen to keep them from reaching these peaks.
· Correct uniform numbers have been added for everyone but Negro League/Japanese players. I have no idea where to find those. If I can, I’ll add them as well.
· Capitalization in last names (like DiMaggio, McGwire, etc.) has been fixed
· General ratings adjustments, changes, tweaks

Any comments, questions, feedback, please let me know.

Hopefully, those of you using the set are enjoying it.

There is not going to be a version 2.3. Rather I am going to wait and combine what was planned for 2.3 with the planned version 3 and do it as 1 big update.

As is, right now the set is playing very well. But these adjustments to speed and defense ratings are going to require a bit of time to research and implement and, given that time, I may as well just do the added players in the process and wipe both out at once.

Fact is, the feedback I've gotten has been very good, but there hasn't been much. This is a niche' kind of set, I suppose, so it's probably not being used that widely, which is fine. But that being the case, I don't feel guilty taking a bit more time between updates.

Again, hope you're enjoying and if you have any comments or questions, please post them here.

Babe Ruth hit almost .500 for the season in my league. Was that meant to happen?

Never experienced that, nor have I heard of anyone else experiencing that or anything like it. As such, don't know what to tell you.

The season I have posted on my site, Ruth's line:

.286/.418/.680

57 HR 132 RBI

A quick update:

I have 5 teams of speed/steal/instinct ratings left to do. Then it's on to the defense, which I really want to nail, particularly given the DIPS model. No timeline, just wanted to give a heads up that the project was still progressing.

OK, the speed/baserunning ratings have been calculated, just need to enter them. Then its onto the defensive stuff.

Guys,

Been hung up with personal stuff and a bit of involvement in MVP '05. But I'm back to this and will be entering speed ratings into the game this week.

Any defensive observations by you guys, I would certainly appreciate. I'm really not sure how to rate better/differently than I have, and I don't want to change just for the sake of changing. If there are any defensive trends you've seen that you think need to be tweaked, or just ratings you question defensively, let me know.

Thanks.

No plans to do a current roster for the same time reasons that prevented me from doing TotalMinors for MVP this year.

Speed/steal/baserunning adjustments should be done soon. As of now, I'm not going to address defense, because I really can't think of a way to measure it that would be a substantial improvement. My ratings are good, but I know they can be improved upon. I'm just not sure how best to go about it. So for now it will be left alone and I will move on to adding more players.

I will likely release the speed/steal update as a version 2.3 after all. With the defense I would have held it off and made it v3, but I think v3 will be the player additions and, if I come up with improvements that I'm comfortable with, defensive adjustments.

V 2.3 will likely be released Thursday.

As always, feedback is appreciated.

Sorry for the delay. I need to adjust the general baserunning ratings a bit. Hopefully will have v 2.3 out this weekend.

Version 2.3 of the Franchise Stars Roster Project is now available HERE

This version redoes speed/stealing/baserunning ratings. Hopefully the changes will look good to you as well.

Next up, Version 3, which will add a host of new players (posted early in this thread) and, hopefully, include defensive ratings revisions as well.

Enjoy and, as always, feedback is appreciated.

Just wondering if there is still interest in this project? I've been delayed by 5 million issues but have been inching along at my own pace for a while. The feedback I've gotten has always been very good with this project, but I'm also very aware it's somewhat of a niche set. Basically, I just want to know if there's a demand for me to do it for the new version of the game, or not.

Thanks.

Franchise Set

Your franchise set is really the only roster set I use. It is always well done. I'm begging you to complete it for the new game.

Thanks,

I hope to at least do one version for the new game so people can use it. Thanks.

Well I am very disappointed to learn that with the new game, you will have to fill all the minor leagues. If you don't, the game will do so for you. That really goes against this set's purpose, as it's constructed to really not even introduce fictional players until the draft after your second season (since I created so many Negro League and Japanese players for the draft at the end of the first season).

To those of you who use the set, will it be a big issue for you to have fake minor leaguers mixed in. By the time I'm done with the update, each franchise should have 60-70 real players, but you would end up with, obviously, 30-40 fake guys in your system from the start.

Any chance we could get a download link for the 2.3 roster set? I'd love to see this one, but the links in the messages above are dead. I'll probably still be using 6.5 for at least a couple more months.

thanks!
