The way I would envision it is that it would be a subtle visual cue as to whether the team of the player you're looking at is on the road or at home. You get a bit of extra information just by looking at the player photo without having to go elsewhere to find it. It also provides a bit of visual variety.

That said, there are legitimate reasons to not do so, such as all those extra player photos getting created for away uniforms in profile pictures that perhaps the user might not want to devote CPU resources to.

If I'm reading it correctly... It sounds like it'll automatically switch to away jersey's for away games. And can be used for baseball cards as well. It still you home jerseys for the player profile so I don't think it's random.

I guess as long as I put all my uniforms into one folder then it would still work they way I need it to.

Love these added features, and what I love even more is that the Facegen files will require less memory reducing load times!

Text-to-Speech (TTS) Improvements

We're approaching the day when OOTP can sound as natural as the announcers on your TV when it's reading the play-by-play. We're not quite there yet, but OOTP 14 makes some strides in that area, including a new pronunciation file, "tts_pronunciation," located in the "misc" folder. Using the SAPI 5 phonetic system, you can edit that file to tell the text-to-speech narrator how to pronounce names. All of the first and last names in the Lahman database are already there!

To enable text-to-speech, go into the Game Preferences before playing out a game. Choose the "Game sound + text-to-speech" option in the "Misc" pane. It works okay in Windows 7, but it's even better in Windows 8, which has seen a lot of TTS improvements. Open the Windows system settings and select a TTS voice to your liking. Mac and Linux users will need to wait a while before they can start using TTS in OOTP.

Yes, TTS is in OOTP13. But improvements were made to the feature for OOTP14. Plus, Windows 8 (with TTS enhancements) has since been released. Using TTS in OOTP14 is now a viable option (esp. if you're running Windows 8). Not perfect, but OK.

So for now it is just home and away jerseys? Down the road I would like to see more slots added for third alternate and retro jerseys.

Definitely wondering about this. Is the home/away jersey change automatic or is it that we will have to now click a home/away jersey button? Asking because I see buttons that seem to suggest that this is still a somewhat manual change although only one click.

Automatic when watching or playing out a game.

Still waiting for the ability to make league wide and team baseball cards. I like to make baseball cards of the entire World Series winning team with "World Series" as the description, which is a pain in the @ss to do manually every season. One button to create a card for the entire team would be awesome (and select what type of card from the normal list and description...).
