That's what I'm hoping for there.
Ok, good luck.

What about sponsoring player pages on baseball-reference.com?

I think the sponsorship would be cheap, and the type of people that go there would also be the type of people that play this game.

If you haven't already, I would suggest reaching out to Baseball Statistics and Analysis | FanGraphs Baseball and seeing if they might be willing to do a review of the game. That would probably be more effective at recruiting new players than a review from a site like Gamespot.

I would think that there's a huge overlap between people who read that site and those who would enjoy OOTP, but some may not realize what OOTP has to offer (i.e., their idea is that text-based sims is something from the DMB/BM era from 10 years ago).

Agree entirely that talk radio probably would be a waste of time.

This is a bit unrelated but I've been thinking about writing to Game Informer, a video gaming magazine published here in Minneapolis with a national circulation, and asking them to at least look at OOTP. However who would I want them to get in contact with?

Note to self: Princess Kenny was really off-putting.

I'll let someone else at OOTP handle the pricing question.

I doubt we can afford to spend much on sports radio ads, especially on XM. Our ad budget is pretty much non-existent.

RE RTR: I can't control what happened there, and I'm not going to blame anyone else at OOTP for that either. Given OOTP's size, when iOOTP hit some speed bumps, Markus had to take time away from OOTP 12 to work with Sebastian. That's just the way it went. We're not EA.

We realize the best thing would be for the game to come out before Opening Day. We would have preferred that too.

Are "sports radio", and "sports talk radio" two different things?

Same thing. And my point was that getting sports radio hosts to hopefully cover OOTP is different from buying ads on sports radio stations.

You can ask them to get in touch with me. Please send me a PM and I'll send you my details. Thanks.

And many thanks to everyone on this thread for all the good ideas. Even if an idea isn't feasible or doesn't work out, I'm happy to hear it, so don't hold back.

Give a lifetime free OOTP subscription to whoever gets the most airtime for OOTP, surely we have one crazy person on here who would run butt naked during a MLB game with OOTP printed on their buttocks

In a related vein, what about advertising on sites like FanGraphs or Baseball Think Factory?

Legal fees not included.

But seriously, if someone around here could get us exposure somewhere with a large national audience, like, say, Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN, I'd be happy to give them copies of OOTP and iOOTP for free for life.

And now that I think about it some more, it can't just be holding up a sign that says "OOTP" for the cameras. Maybe a sign that says "Out of the Park Baseball 12," with the web site address. (A shortened version, like tinyurl.com/ootp, would probably be best, so it's easy to read and remember.)

But I am serious about that. I would just ask that someone who wants to try something like that get in touch with me first, so I can bring in Markus and Andreas and make sure we're all on the same page RE what's expected.

What about looking into podcasts? Either starting your own or at least trying to get into a show that deals with fantasy sports.

Podcasts are a good idea too. Anyone happen to know of the best ones, aside from the major ones produced by big media outlets?

Rock, Paper, Shotgun is a great PC games site. Although they're based in England I think one of the writers is a baseball fan, so they might be interested. They don't just focus on big budget games, they write a lot of articles featuring less well known, independent game developers.

I recently had a discussion with Doug Glanville on twitter about OOTP, he hadn't played it but he said he'd like to check it out
