For our QPR fan.

QPR v Ipswich Town

Loftus Road, London.
Capacity 18,500

Attachment 53833

Queens Park Rangers or as they are better known QPR wre formed in 1882 when St Judes merged with Christchurch Rangers the resulting team were called Queens park Rangers as most came from Queens Park in London, QPR became professional in 1889 and have played in 14 different stadiums before settling in at Loftus Road in 1917 their present day home.

In 1966-67 they won the Division 3 Championship while also winning the League Cup this up to now being their only Cup Competion win, not only were they the first third division winners but it was also the first league cup final at Wembley.

In 1975-76 they came within one point of winning the 1st Division (EPL) only losing out when Liverpool won on the last day of the season, since then the team have reached the League Cup Final and EUFA Cup quarter finals in 1976-77.

In 1980-81 Terry Venables took over the managers seat and led them to the FA Cup final were after a 1-1 draw they lost 1-0 in the replay, the club in 1981 installed a plastic pitch but although unpopular the pitch lasted until 1988. In 1982-83 QPR returned to the top flight by winning the second division championship, over the next few years verious managers came in and mid table was the usual finishing position.

1991 saw the appointment of ex QPR player Gerry Francis and saw them being one of the founder members of the English Premier League which began in 1992 usual mid table finishes lasted until in 1995 Les Ferdinand was sold to Newcastle and the loss of Ferdinand became evident when QPR were relegated that season.

They reached one of their lowest league positions in 2001 when for the first time in 30 years by being relegated to the first division which put them in the third tier of English football, they spent the 2001 season in administration and thus were banned from the transfer market. 2002 saw them lose in the play offs against Cardiff 1-0 in extra time but in 2003 they finished runners up and so gained promotion to the Championship.

Recent years have seen rumours of QPR being in debt to the tune of £18 million ($30 million +), the team were also dogged by rumours in 2005 involving directors, shareholders with allegations of blackmail and threats of violence against Gianni Paladini.

Ipswich Town seem to be a breeding ground for England managers with Sir Alf Ramsey who led England to World Cup glory in 1966 and Sir Bobby Robson who led England to a World Cup semi final and quarter final losing both times to the eventual winners.

It was the Robson years that have been the best for the "Tractor Boys" winning the Texaco Cup in 1973, FA Cup in 1978 and the UEFA Cup in 1981 since then it as been a case of mediocre football and a yo yo effect of promotion and relegation.

Almost always yes.
However in low non-league football, players will go by car individually or in groups.
And obviously at the top end, some clubs will fly if it is a long distance on the odd occasion.

QPR kick off playing right to left in their usual blue & white hoops with white shorts and sock with blue trim, Ipswich are playing in all black with white trim.

Can I just vent my disgust at all these Premium TV club sites. Everything you click on you have to register for. I mean why the **** do I need to sign up to read a piece of news on Stoke City's (for example) front page?

Sweet!

I've always wondered why QPR has 3 kits; their blue/white hoops, the red, and then the black kit that comes out once in a blue moon,

Yea, I agree. I registered at the Hearts site, but it would make sense if you could register once for all the clubs. They are on the same domain, after all!

First 5 minutes have been all QPR mostly coming down the left hand side, so far Milanese has been the danger man, Ipswich however have come closest to scoring with a free kick cross from the QPR right hand side which was fumbled by QPR keeper Jones just wide for a corner.

And that moon only comes out on nights when QPR actually get promoted - ie. very rarely. :runs for cover:

Is Simon Royce washed up in RL? Surprised he's not even a sub.

8th minute Ward for QPR curles a shot from outside the penalty box with his right foot just above the Ipswich bar.
