Fantasitc Matt. I had no idea that you had this web page setup. All I ever saw was http://southernbaseball.com/twb, and I was never bright enough to go to the main page. Wonderful stuff. I'll read up on all the rules. Let's hope someone doesn't respond to the next roll call...
PS: Dodgers just scored 7 in the 6th. Gotta keep those Giants away. Beltre for MVP! Last edited by DamnYankees; 08-26-2004 at 10:10 PM. |

Nooooooo.....
Red Sox won the World Series! Now if only the real Red Sox could win one after 1918. And to hear you use the term "reminds me of" and then talk about a team from yesteryear in the TWB just shows how much this league grows on you. |

Hey, look The General (Ward) got a Gold Glove in his old age. Nice way to comeback at 38. |

it's actually amazing he managed to be that good in WS this year... he sucked the time before that, and Flaky ALWAYS sucked in WS... |

Breaking News found here. While some players begin to return from the war, one future Hall of Famer enlists.

I keep getting discovery requests dropped on my desk to the point that my vacation has been trashed... it would be nice if my company didn't keep getting sued over nonsense. Anyway, I may have to beg off of day-to-day management of a club and take that more relaxed spot over in the TWB HOF as Historian where I can write rambling and annoying "articles" from time-to-time. ![]() John |

Matt, this may be a stupid question, but who is darnoff? Is that you?
jdw, sorry to hear that. You really should be a GM, just for the game's posterity. But, if for some reason you can't do it, I'd love to have the chance to renew the greatness of Flaky. PS: Please don't call me Yanks. It's truly an insult to me . It's DamnYankees for a reason. Feel free to call me Damn, however.

One thing that might be playing on him is the lack of support of that Bums offense. 1.93 ERA (#2 in the NL), another WHIP Title, 1 IP off the IP lead, 36 QS in 39 GS... and just a 19-14 record. Teammate Remmy Paul won the POY with a slightly better ERA (1.87) and a 22-12 record, which really isn't all that great given an ERA that was half the NL average (1.87 vs. 3.80). Still, Frank will come back to chase Dodge Lee's all-time win record. He'll be 36... he could have enough time to catch Lee. Though one wonders if Dodge will come back in 1945 with the war still on. He still was great last year, and nearly was the POY. ![]() John |

John, let me know what you decide. If you don't GM, I certainly hope your participation in the league, in any other form, won't decline (as far as real life allows, of course). |

New Downloads!
I've just uploaded 3 big new downloads on the TWB d-loads page here. The most important of these is the official 1945 Opening Day league file, the first one ever released to the general public! Also added are 2 official TWB facepacks. The first contains all current players (excluding ancestors) and the second contains all retired players & current ancestors.
I don't like releasing a substandard product, so hopefully I had the league file in perfect order before uploading it. Enjoy looking around the league on your own, but I do ask one favor: Please do not reveal just yet who has retired until I post it officially. I would prefer to wait until I can announce it properly. Unfortunately that may not be until Monday, so I hope you guys can keep a secret.

Probably best to hand the Sox to DY. Our one competent secretary handed in her notice late Friday, and with no replacement on the horrizon it means more dung will get tossed onto that Paralegal Jack Of All Trades already swamped plater. *big groan* Given the choice between spending for the near future at least my TWB time between (i) running a franchise like it needs to be and (ii) having fun being a Historian Jack Of All Trades in the TWB threads, it's probably saner to keep the current role. Running a team can = stress. Reading this thread, poking around in TWB's history, and interacting with the good people who pop in the thread is nothing but pleasure... which I think I will need a regular dose of. ![]() I'd be happy to work for the Commish in the TWB Offices. And I hope this doesn't force me to turn in my Vet Committe vote. :PPerhaps place me on the waiting list. The 1961/62 expansion might come around too quick, but if things calm down I wouldn't mind being the Cowboy taking on the years of frustration that will come the Angles way. If not then, either the 1969 or 1977 expansion will probably hit when things calm down. John |

Well, John, its too bad you can't do it, but I will admit I'm smiling right now. Thanks for letting me have an opportunity. Hope we still see you around alot, doing what you do best. After all, I'm gonna need someone to give some perspective to my 10 straight championships.
Now to read up on the ChiSox. |
