DBL News: The All-Star Game Rosters Have Been Announced
DBL News: The All-Star Game Rosters Have Been Announced:
It's All-Star Game time -- time for the superstars to shine! Every year the DELMARVA Baseball League takes a break in the schedule to play the annual All-Star Game. It's a battle of the superstars -- the Delaware Conference All-Stars versus the MarVa Conference All-Stars. The All-Star Game will spotlight the best hitters, the best pitchers and the best fielders, all doing battle against one another, all trying to prove their league is best. This years game falls early this season due to the new balanced schedule, but it is still be quite a classic. I have to fix this schedule issue next year. All-Star Game History: 2013: MarVa 5, Delaware 6 2014: Delaware 6, MarVa 5 2015: MarVa 7, Delaware 1 2016: Delaware 8, MarVa 3 2017: Delaware 5, MarVa 3 2018: MarVa 1, Delaware 3 2019: Delaware 6, MarVa 5 2020: MarVa 6, Delaware 8 2021: MarVa 1, Delaware 5 2022: Delaware 1, MarVa 2 2023: MarVa 3, Delaware 1 2024: Delaware 7, MarVa 2 2025: MarVa 0, Delaware 2 2026: Delaware 8, MarVa 7 2027: MarVa 4, Delaware 5 2028: Delaware 3, MarVa 4 2029: MarVa 0, Delaware 2 2030: Delaware 9, MarVa 5 2031: MarVa 0, Delaware 1 2032: Delaware 6, MarVa 7 2033: MarVa 5, Delaware 1 2034: Delaware 7, MarVa 3 2035: MarVa 3, Delaware 2 2036: Delaware 10, MarVa 3 2037: MarVa 4, Delaware 8 The Delaware Conference holds an all-time lead in the mid-season classic 18 to 7. ii remember the first few All-Star games really close and fun games and then that died down and there were some pitching duels and the offense picked it up, etc, etc etc... wonder what will happen this season? 2036 DC scored 10 runs, first time we saw that in an All-Star game, last year 8, 18-runs in two seasons. Some impressive showings... Will the MarVa Conference have an answer this year? It should be intersting. When I look at the players, I always feel like the MC has the advantage. Maybe in 2038... ![]() The Cannons will be represented by 3 players this season, three position players, and all making their All-Star game debut! This is really shocking to me that we only have position players, I try to hard to build my teams around pitching yet this year the offense is the bright spot. I am not complaining, its just an observation. Eugene Todd (1B): .307-16-43 Mikel Wallstreet (CF): .319-13-61, 17 SB Chris Mildmay (SS): .292-7-32, 31 SB All of them deserve this... now will any of them live up to Matt Douglas and his MVP performance from last season? I guess we will find out. In all honesty, I don't mind no pitchers showing up on the roster, now they can enjoy the break and get healthy and rested.

Delaware Conference Dominates in 3-0 Win over MarVa Conference All-Star
Montoya Dominates in 3-0 Win over MarVa Conference All-Stars: Lorenzo Montoya cemented his status as one of the best in the game with his performance tonight.
"It's an honor to even be invited to the game. To be rewarded as the MVP of the game is extra special," the Delaware Conference star said after his great showing. "Just playing on the same diamond as some of these guys is a pure treat." In the game itself, Lorenzo Montoya certainly wasn't the only great player out there, but he did enough in the Delaware Conference's 3-0 win over the MarVa Conference All-Stars. This is the third shut-out in an All-Star game, the first happened in 2025 the second in 2031, and all three have ended with the Delaware Conference holding the trophy. The DC used 1 pitcher an inning holding the MC to just 3 hits! What a game for the DC. In the second Lorenzo Montoya lead off with a single, stole second with 1-out, and then scored on a single by Dave McGinnity. In the third Mike Wallstreet, who walked with 2-outs, came home to score on a 2 ball 2 strike double by Naoki Okubo. And in the fourth Lornezo Montoya lead-off with a double and scored 2-groundouts later... and that was all the scoring. --------- Chadds Ford had 2 starters with Chris Mildway leading off, playing SS, going 0-5, and Mikel Wallstreet, batting second, playing CF, who went 0-3, with a walk, and a run-scored. Eugene Todd came in in the 5th and went 0-2 on the day. Not much going on with the Cannons.

June 2038 - In Review
Players of the Month - June 2038
![]() Delaware Conference DE Conf's Best Batter Selected: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 29-year-old Howard Porter put together a solid offensive month for Georgetown and was crowned June's top batter in the Delaware Conference. He batted .390 with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and 17 runs scored. This season Porter is batting .347 with 14 home runs. He has scored 50 runs and driven in 59. Harris Named Top DE Conf Hurler: The Delaware Conference scribes have picked June's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to Dustin Harris of Cape May. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 5-0 mark. The Beacons star hurler made 5 starts with a 1.23 ERA and surrendered 22 hits in 44 innings. He struck out 28 and walked 9. This year Harris has compiled a 7-3 record with a 2.32 ERA. Delaware Conference Names Rookie of Month: A veritable toddler to the Delaware Conference, Maxmillion Wallstreet just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for June. Over the past month the 23-year-old left fielder for Wilmington hit .312 with 29 hits, 6 home runs and 24 RBI. He also logged 15 walks and compiled a .413 on-base percentage. So far this season Wallstreet is hitting .254 with 11 home runs. MarVa Conference Ramos Takes MV Conf's Best Bat Award: When guys like Norfolk's Oliver Ramos win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive June, the longtime MarVa Conference veteran toyed with opposing pitchers, collecting 37 hits in 88 at-bats. The veteran first baseman hit for a .420 batting average and collected 13 home runs, 31 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Looking at his present stats, Ramos has compiled a .282 batting average in 78 games with a .411 on-base percentage, while hitting 19 home runs and driving in 53 runs. Ortíz Selected MV Conf's Best Pitcher: "The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we might have to start inviting him out with us after the games." Andrés Ortíz put together a very solid month to take home the MarVa Conference's top pitching honor in June. The 23-year-old reliever threw like a veteran. In 16 relief appearances he raked in 11 saves and 26 strikeouts in 19.1 innings as he put together his 3-0 record and 0.00 ERA. To date Andrés Ortíz has made 40 relief appearances and nailed down 27 saves. In 44.1 innings he has fanned 53 batters and walked 16. His record is 4-1 with a 1.42 ERA and the opposition is batting .211 against him. MV Conf Selects Rookie Star of the Month: Robinson Alaniz's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Chesapeake left fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award. During the month he hit .333 with 3 doubles, no triples and 4 home runs. Alaniz also scored 11 times and drove in 12 runs. Thus far this season Alaniz is hitting .290 with 10 home runs, 39 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 69 hits in 238 at-bats and has played in 69 games. Purchased the contract of SS Brad Sims from Triple A San Juan. Rookie Francisco Franco will take over the closer duties while Meyers is out. I am curious to see how he will do. He has been pretty solid so far this season with his 1.15 ERA and 14.4 K/9 ratio. I just hope he can keep it up. Injuries: MR Dustin McNeil, torn UCL, 10 months, 60-day DL SP Gehrig Pearl, Torn triceps, 2-3 months, 11-day DL SP Juan Cuesta, Shoulder soreness, 1-week, 11-day DL CL Tim Meyers, Chronic back soreness, 4-weeks, 11-day DL OF Byung-Ho Ch'on, ruputred finger tendon, 3 months, 11-day DL Juan Cuesta was listed DtD for a week, but I thought it would be better to have the 24-year-old head to the DL for rest. I'd hate to see him push it and get hurt even more. Gallin Krall will take over his slot in the rotation, and now it becomes clear why I am missing Gehrig Pearl... Injuries have been awful this season. Other/Roster News: We resigned some expiring contracts including my Assistant GM David Sanchez and the Bench Coach Caleb Madison. Along with that our hitting coaches in AAA, AA and single A, and our manager for our AA team. Our first year manager our A-Ball team Chuck Moore doesn't want to return. Last season he was bench coach in Harrington and he things he has big-league credentials. We will see the Roughnecks are in first right now, but I will be looking for a new Manager at the end of the year (possibly even Ray Clarke, single A hitting coach since we expanded in 2030). GM Notes: We had a few players go down this week with day-to-day injuries. I hate seeing the injury alert, but I don't mind it when its just a day to day. Four players went down this week, three were day-to-day, but my worry is these short day-to-day'ers are going to turn into long term problems. Ohayashi and Todd missed some PT but according to William Blair they should be back to full strength immediately... So the new owner Gilbert Hickman seems much nicer than the original owner. He is still stingy with the budget, but that isn't everything. He contacted me about the mid-season goals and left me a nice compliment: During our time working together, I have been very happy with your progress towards the goals I have set out for you. I feel similarly about your handling of the team's on-field and front office management. I know I complain about the budget a lot, but I think that is because I am jealous. Jealous of the other teams who can sign their 'studs' to long term deals and keep them around. I can sign mid-level players, but not my studs and that makes it hard to win games over time. I am going to TRY to change my attitude regarding that, I am going to focus on the positive and build this team up from the minors. I can't wallow in something I don't have (and most likely won't get), I have to make due with what I got. These are my cards, this is my team. Case closed. It is my job to win it all... and I plan on doing that and I plan on doing that soon. Ok so we have 80 games left, less than half of the season. Now it is time to start winning, and from the looks of it we will be battling injuries the rest of the way. I think we can make a run at this thing. Just a side note, I tried to sign Chris Mildway to avoid arbitration and hopefully try to keep him longer term. But Gilbert said "No" ... I can't make any moves until I free up budget space... how much you ask? Somewhere between $12 and 13 million. I will have some work ahead of me when time comes. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Seaford Blue Jays: 51-30 .630 (0.5) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 47-35 .573 (+3.0) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 54-28 .659 (+11.0) MV Beltway: Washington Senators: 51-31 .622 (+2.o) MV Mountain: Ellicott City Express/Martinsburg Mountaineers/Richmond Cardinals/King George Royals: 42-40 .512 (+19.0) MV Coastal: Chesapeake Blue Crabs/Norfolk Cavaliers: 52-30 .634 (+7.0) Players of the Week: Delaware: Lorenzo Montoya, Christiana Blue Hens: 11-18, 5 HR's, 10 RBI's, 10 R's MarVa: Manuel Miranda, Washington Senators: 7-16, 3 HR's, 8 RBI's Power Rankings: 1) Washington Senators (129.0) 2) Norfolk Cavaliers (123.1) 3) Georgetown Sixteens (119.5) 4) Chesapeake Blue Crabs (118.1) 5) Seaford Blue Jays (114.3) News: Milton Brewers: Announced that SP Jorge Tovar will miss the rest of the season due to a torn flexor tendon. As a pitcher he i 4-0 1.30 in 7 starts, and as a hitter he .348-1-3 (8-23) in 6-games. I have tried to put him in the starting line-up but it hasn't worked out well. At least he is getting some AB's... I am not sure what he future is going to be, his ratings are rock solid on both sides. GM Notes: Some weeks you have it, some you don't that goes for teams and players. For instance Mikel Wallstreet who has been a solid hitter all season had a rough week this past week hitting only .250, while striking out 11 times and grounding into DP. 11 K's is huge, you don't see numbers like that often from your "star" player. My roster was set to 15 position players and 10 pitchers, but I think I may go back to 11 pitchers. With weeks like last week where we lose a starter and have a reliever go long innings, and 2 extra-inning games, just seems safer to have that extra pitcher. Rubio went down this week, and I am curious if it has something to do with the long outing he had last week. I need to figure that out, but it looks like he will be heading back to the DL. His injury is pending, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Eugene Todd has been a surprise this year. After his big debut in 2036 (.296-12-42) I got excited. He was asked for time and time again in trades, but he was the second player I drafted in Chadds Ford and I didn't want to give him up... and then last season he came up and was awful (.148-0-3) to the point I was ready to dump him. And now he is an All-Star and one of the better hitters on the team (.312-17-47), which has been mind boggling. Did I rush demote him last season? He did miss most of last season with an injury, which leads to the surprise big year even more... I just wish he could get his defense together. I have 4 players that will be hitting free-agency next season and 2 of them are minor leaguers. 3B Ricardo Bravo, who is down in AAA, 2B Roger Phillips, who I signed to a 1-year deal and would like to keep around, OF Clarence Roberson, who can walk (I actually might try to trade him), and 1B Jesus Hernandez, who I am going to try to keep around. It is possible to blow the budget an bring back just about this whole team! However Robert Shepherd who is set to win around $9M in arbitration, Mikel Wallstreet who is set to win $7.5+, and Ying-Hua Ji who is set to win around $7.0 are going to be tough to keep around. If I can deal those guys and possible Phil Davis, this team is drastically different, but in a much better place financially... don't get any crazy ideas, I am in first place and I want to win the title this season... none of those guys are going to get dealt till the off-season. Just need to start thinking. Another successful week, as we pull ahead of the Iron Pigs and Blue Hens even more. The Pigs lost a big player this week, so that should and hopefully we will be able to continue that trend. This team will be different in 2039 so my, for myself, has been set, win it all... and I think we can and I think we can do it without making any major changes. It is funny how winning keeps everyone happy. I have never seen my teams chemistry this high before and it is driven by two factors, one we have a true veteran leader (Gregorio Costello) and we are winning. After the first month of the season the team was starting to turn on each other and now everyone is buddy buddy. That is good news in Chadds Ford. I will smile today and hopefully for the next few months... ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Seaford Blue Jays: 55-33 .625 (+2.0) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 52-37 .584 (+4.0) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 58-31 .652 (+12.0) MV Beltway: Washington Senators/Baltimore Barons: 54-35 .607 (+14.5) MV Mountain: Ellicott City Express: 47-42 .528 (+1.0) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers: 55-33 .629 (+1.0) Players of the Week: Delaware: Melvin Wallstreet, Chadds Ford Cannons: 14-29, HR, 6 RBI's MarVa: Jarred Martin, Virginia Beach Surf Dawgs: 12-24, 3 HR's, 7 RBI's, 8 R's Power Rankings: 1) Georgetown Sixteens (120.3) 2) Seaford Blue Jays (116.5) 3) Norfolk Cavaliers (116.3) 4) Washington Senators (112.2) 5) Chadds Ford Cannons (112.2) News: Lewes Braves: OF Ira Kelly went 5 for 5 during a 10-inning win over the Blue Hens. Traded 25-year-old minor league first baseman Jesús Hernández to the Wilmington Iron Pigs, getting 24-year-old minor league second baseman Amberlan Pepito in return. I dealt away Hernandez, because he didn't want to sign with me and I had no place for him on the roster. Not a deal I wanted to make, but I felt like I had to or lose him. At 22-years-old he should be in the lineup for a few more years. Better safe than sorry, plus at catcher I think it makes sense. Other/Roster News: GM Notes: We gained some more ground in our division with another fine week. Gaining a game or two a week is making me feel a lot better about our chances. I am still expecting some kind of cold spell, but hopefully that doesn't come. One thing I keep flashing back to is April that really happened, was it a sign? A fluke? I still can't figure that out. As all our stats seem to be coming back down to 'normal', our defense isn't budging off that 12th best slot. There are only 13 teams in the DC so what the heck is that about? That is my concern about going deep into the playoffs, can you win and have a defense this poor? Eugene Todd seems to be the biggest brick-hadn out there with 11 errors, but then there is Ambrose Gutierrez who has 6, 3 of them in out field! How do you commit that many errors in the OF? You have to have a huge ZR right? NOPE! Its only 2.21. Crazy... it looks like I am building a team of DH's out here. Looking at our ZR's is deadly.. -1.6, -2.4, -0.2, -1.4, -2.8, -1.2... really? I can't look anymore... The last 2 weeks of this month are going to be the toughest ones. We play the Colonials and the Beacons next week. Followed by the Braves and the Millers. Are solid teams, not great teams, but not bad teams. Games we should win... but we do play those pesky Beacons, who I hate playing because they always seem to beat us. It has been such an odd season. I am not used to having an offensive minded team. This offense has been crazy good and even if it lasts only a few more months I am enjoying it. I never thought you could win games with an offense, I always targeted pitching and defense... this is fun. I am not sure there is much more to say right now. We are winning and playing well. I just hope we can continue this and stay healthy. The good thing is we have depth for the bottom of the roster, but if we start losing some of the 'stars' then we might be in trouble in the long haul. We have to hit, we have to pitch and we have to start fielding the ball. I feel like we have the team this year that can get further than any other Chadds Ford team... at 64 going on 65 (game years old) I am not sure how much longer I got left. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Seaford Blue Jays: 60-34 .638 (+2.5) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 57-38 .600 (+6.5) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 60-35 .632 (+12.0) MV Beltway: Baltimore Barons: 58-37 .611 (+2.0) MV Mountain: Ellicott City Express: 51-44 .537 (+4.0) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers: 61-34 .642 (+2.0) Players of the Week: Delaware: Patrick Coates, Milford Clippers: 11-24, 4 HR's, 8 RBI's MarVa: Takamuku Shibata, Norfolk Cavaliers: 11-25, 5 HR's, 9 RBI's Power Rankings: 1) Norfolk Cavaliers (124.6) 2) Seaford Blue Jays (121.9) 3) Chadds Ford Cannons (115.0) 4) Baltimore Barons (112.9) 5) Milford Clippers (112.9) News: New Castle Colonials: Lost OF Jorge Munoz (.288-19-47) for 4-weeks when he suffered an intercostal strain on a defensive play. It's a No-No for Acevedo:
It's a No-No for Acevedo:
Baltimore Barons starter Sancho Acevedo was unhittable today at Caviliers Ballpark. Acevedo beat the Norfolk Cavaliers 9-0, breezing through the Cavaliers lineup en route to a no-hitter. "I thought Sancho started off a little slow and was struggling with his command at first," Barons manager Marshall Relaey said later. "He lucked his way through the early innings, and they helped him out by not being patient. Eventually, it all came together for him, and from there on the Cavaliers never had a chance. He dominated them." Acevedo struck out 8 batters and issued no walks in the performance. To date this season Acevedo is 13-2 with 21 starts and an ERA of 2.00 with 101 strikeouts in 144 innings. ---------- Sancho worked as a closer when he was first called up in 2036, but since his transition to a starter last year he has excelled. This kid is 22-years old and has a very bright future ahead of him. Last season his first as a full-time starter he went 14-13 3.97 with his shining moment, being his first career no-hitter. This year he has topped his season from last year and his 13-2 2.00 and just threw the first no-hitter of 2038 and his second of all-time. The way this kid has developed it is quite possible that he will become the best pitcher in the DBL's history. Yes those are high-words of praise, but at 22 he is almost fully developed and has a lot of similarities with Ricardo Gonzalez. I like this kid and will have to watch him over his career. At 22-years-old there is a chance he will be able to throw more no-hitters than any other pitches in DBL history. Currently that record is held by Fernando Farless with 3. Sancho and Narcissus Kondylis are the only other ppithces who have thrown more than 1 no-hitter during their career. A stat I find surprising. What makes this no-hitter so special is that he did it against one of the top teams in the game. Last season it was one of the worse, this year one of the best. Sancho Acevedo 22-years-old Stuff: 13/15 Movement: 15/15 Control: 18/20 Profile: Groundball pitcher with a fastball that comes in at 98-100. Fastball: 14/14 Curveball: 14/14 Slider: 11/12 Change: 9/12 Forkball: 14/14 The biggest strike against him is his stamina, which is below average at 8. This guy will have a long future if he stays healthy.

And current starter Fernando Cirin will head back down to AAA (till 9/1). Cirin hit .150-0-0 in 23 plate appearances going 3-20 with 7 K's. I tihnk he has a bright future as a back-up, but that will be determined at another time. Other/Roster News: none GM Notes: We were informed that Tim Meyers due back date was uncertain, as his back was still bothering him. I am curious about him coming back and what I should do with him. If he joins Chadds Ford I don't want him to replace Franco as the closer. Franco has been awesome and Meyers is questionable... so what do I do? I am determined to let Patterson run the team but Meyers was awful. I guess I could let it play out and then demote Meyers if push comes to shove. Speaking of Patterson, I am not sure he will be back next season. He is signed through 2039, but I am thinking of buying him out if the right candidate comes along. I am not happy with the way he runs the pitching staff and I am hoping that a new manager will do better, that or I will have to take over. We will see. But this week Eric Harmon pitched in the first two games, going 3+ plus innings in both games. Just doesn't make sense when I have 6 other pitchers. I just don't feel like he utilizes the depth of the bullpen properly. This was sort of a crazy week and a reason I shouldn't watch the "power rankings" too closely. We went 5 and 2 yet dropped in the ratings. How does that work? Where there that many teams playing better than us? Did our competition warrant a perfect week? Just seems weird how those things happen. 60 games left in the season, we have an 8-game lead in the division and one of the best records in the DBL. I am truly surprised we are in the situation we are. How could we make such a turn around after such an awful start to the season. It just doesn't make sense... yes I know I keep bring that up, but it is truly confusing. How could we play .360 through the first month and be so good after that? Has our division crashed or have we played that much better? It is just crazy. I really like this team. Now that we Robert Shepherd back our rotation is starting to come together and with the way the Wallstreet's are playing and young guys like Maxwell, Todd, Leal and Gutierrez starting to hit the ball it feels like things are coming together. This is great. I feel like there is some magic here in Chadds Ford in 2038 and I am starting to get my hopes up. We have 5 more games in July and I do believe we will finish strong. We play a couple of teams going through down years, so that should benefit us and then its on to the final 2 months of the regular season. We are in good shape as long as we continue to improve. The end of July also signifies the trading deadline, and we are sitting pretty. I am not sure what we would do to improve. Yes our defense could get better, but I am set on this offense which means no deals for us. 60 more games... lets do this! ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Seaford Blue Jays: 64-37 .634 (+2.5) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 62-40 .608 (+8.0) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 61-41 .598 (+9.0) Wild Card 1: Milford Clippers (DEC): 62-40 .608 (+8.5) Wild Card 2: Christiana Blue Hens (DEN): 54-48 .529 (+0.5) MV Beltway: Baltimore Barons: 64-38 .627 (+2.0) MV Mountain: Ellicott City Express: 55-47 .539 (+4.0) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers/Chesapeake Blue Crabs: 65-37 .637 (+16.0) Wild Card 1: Norfolk Cavaliers/Chesapeake Blue Crabs (MVC): 65-37 .637 (+14.0) Wild Card 2: Washington Senators (MVB): 62-40 .608 (+11.0) Players of the Week: Delaware: Rafael Piedade, Seaford Blue Jays: 19-32, 3 HR's, 12 RBI's, 8 R's MarVa: Yasushi Fujimoto, Norfolk Cavaliers: 13-29, 4 HR's, 6 RBI's Power Rankings: 1) Chesapeake Blue Crabs (122.7) 2) Baltimore Barons (121.9) 3) Washington Senators (117.4) 4) Seaford Blue Jays (117.1) 5) Norfolk Cavaliers (115.7) News: Washington Senators: OF Salvador Espinoza cracked 5-hits agianst the Richmond Cardinals during a 8-6 win. Annapolis Admirals: Will be without SP Antonio Manuel for the rest of the season. Manuel was 4-6 4.36 in 18 starts for the Admirals. Manuel was diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff. Norfolk Cavaliers: Can't seem to get away from the injury bug, losing SP Emilio Medine (8-4 3.56, 17 GS) for the season with elbow tendinitis. Richmond Cardinals: Just acquired 1B Edward Barnes, but they won't see him in the lineup for the next 9-games thanks this part in a crazy on-field altercation against the Washington Senators. Pitcher Andrew Clark of the Senators was also suspended for 9-games, one of, if not the biggest, suspension ever dolled out in the DBL. Have liked following this. Lived in Chester County PA for 61 years, until my wife and I moved to Savannah last July. We were only about 20 minutes from Chadds Ford. You've done an excellent job with this dynasty.

July 2038 - In Review
Players of the Month - July 2038
![]() Delaware Conference Patrick Coates Winner in Delaware Conference: Milford Clippers fans believe they've got a talented young star in Patrick Coates. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in July, as he hit .383 with 10 home runs, 19 RBIs and 24 runs scored. The end result was the second baseman being named the Delaware Conference Batter of the Month. For the year Coates is batting .367 with 26 home runs. Brown Gets DE Conf #1 Pitcher Trophy: It was a sensational July for Ed Brown as he mystified, mesmerized and terrorized opposing batters to capture the Delaware Conference Pitcher of the Month trophy. Brown locked down a 5-1 mark in 6 starts last month, striking out 26 while walking 10 in 46 innings and posting a 1.57 ERA. So far this year Brown has 6 wins and 7 losses and a 3.88 ERA. DE Conf Selects Rookie Star of the Month: Jim Shelton earned July's Rookie of the Month honors in the Delaware Conference for last month's performance. The boyish Christiana shortstop might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. Shelton hit .353 with 1 home run, 12 RBIs and 16 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. For the year Shelton is hitting .320 with 5 home runs. His stats include 39 runs batted in and 70 runs scored. MarVa Conference Ellicott City's Sierra Bags MV Conf Batting Award: On the heels of a very productive July, Alonso Sierra received MarVa Conference Batter of the Month recognition today. The battle-tested catcher hit .385 for the Ellicott City Express and racked up 13 home runs, 31 RBIs and 23 runs scored. This year Sierra is batting .293 with 30 home runs and 79 RBIs. Acevedo Wins Best MV Conf Pitcher: Sancho Acevedo took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the MarVa Conference Pitcher of the Month award for July. The 22-year-old Barons starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 5-0 won-lost record in 6 starts. This month he fanned 31 batters in 44 innings and compiled a 0.82 ERA. Up to now Acevedo has compiled an ERA of 1.97 with a 14-2 mark over 22 starts. He has 104 strikeouts in 151 innings and has held opponents to a .190 batting average. MarVa Conference Names Rookie of Month: Ron Harris's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Harpers Ferry left fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award. During the month he hit .303 with 2 doubles, 1 triple and 4 home runs. Harris also scored 15 times and drove in 11 runs. For the season, Harris is hitting at a .317 clip with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and has scored 22 runs. He has 51 hits, 15 walks and a .381 on-base percentage. Placed C José Matos on the active roster. Activated C José Matos from the disabled list. Fernando Cirin heads back down to AAA after a short stint in the bigs. Whilie up with Chadds Ford (his first cup of coffee) he went 3-20 (.150) with a double and 5-runs. One thing I like about Cirin is he is a great base-runner. He will be back up 9/1. Injuries: MR Dani Rubio, Flexor-pronator strain, 1 week, 11-day DL MR Dustin McNeil, torn UCL, 9 months, 60-day DL SP Gehrig Pearl, Torn triceps, 5 weeks, 11-day DL CL Tim Meyers, Chronic back soreness, ** Unknown **, 11-day DL OF Byung-Ho Ch'on, ruputred finger tendon, 8-9, 11-day DL Other/Roster News: A minor league update: AAA San Juan Hibiscus: 64-43 .598 (-2) AA Pierre Jackrabbits: 52-53 .495 (-12) A Tulsa Roughnecks: 72-33 .686 (+15) SA Wilmington Tides: 59-48 .551 (-5) GM Notes: This offense is firing on all cylinders and I am excited about them and how they can carry this team, but this pitching staff needs to get its crap together. As soon as we started making progress and getting the starters ERA down, but then we keep bumping back up. We can't win it all with an pitching staff that is 8th in runs against! Our "top" starter, Robert Shepherd not included, has an ERA of 4.01. We have to get better pitching out of our #2-#4's if we want to go deep into the playoffs. Speaking of Shepherd it is nice to have him back and he is looking better every start. In 11 starts this season he is 2-1 2.34, the stat that I want to see him do better with is his K/9, it has dropped from 10.9 to 9.4. He isn't going to be the key to my success in the playoffs, but the better he pitches the better my Ying-Hua Ji and Juan Cuesta seem to pitch. Currently we do not have a pitcher on our roster over 30-years-old, with Ying-Hua Ji at 29 years and 81 days our oldest. Three of our are starters, four if you include Pearl, are 25, so maybe I am putting too much pressure on this group of guys. Maybe when Dani Rubio comes back (30-years) this week he might give us some stability with is veteran presence. I just know we need these guys to win it all. Jose Ayala lost his starting shortstop spot when he went down injured, and we pulled off the deal for Chris Mildmay. Mildmay has played incredibly and I am going to try to sign him longer term, which means Ayala will most likely be moved to 2B. Yes that means Carillo, Melvin Wallstreet and others might be displaced, but I feel like Ayala is the best option. Ayala is hitting .313-7-23 in the 30 games since he returned and has increased his defense from 0 to 4 at 2B. One thing that makes me think he will be better off at 2B is his 9-rated arm. I know this is going to sound crazy, and one reason I don't want to win it all this year, just to see what I can do in the off-season, but from the looks of it as we stand now Phil Davis, Mikel Wallstreet, Melvin Wallstreet, Robert Shepherd and possibly Ying-Hua Ji. That sounds like a huge blow yes, but the idea would be to get some type of quality in return. But players like Shepherd ($9.6M), Mi Wallstreet ($7.5M), Ji ($7.0M) and Davis ($6.8M) are just going to deal me a big blow. I am really bummed about Shepherd since I could/should have him under team control for 3 more seasons! I would have to get fancy to keep him around. Tim Meyers should be back at any moment, he went down for 4-weeks, but has been unresponsive to treatments so we are unsure when he will be back. I am hoping sooner than later, but after 4+ weeks of down time he will need to head to AAA to throw a little bit before returning... Hopefully he will return stronger (according to our latest development update he got a bump in Control, which is huge!). ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Seaford Blue Jays: 67-40 .626 (+1.5) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 66-42 .611 (+8.0) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 66-42 .611 (+11.0) Wild Card 1: Milford Clippers (DEC): 66-42 .611 (+9.5) Wild Card 2: Christiana Blue Hens (DEN): 58-50 .537 (+1.5) MV Beltway: Baltimore Barons/Washington Senators: 68-40 .630 (+20.5) MV Mountain: Ellicott City Express: 58-50 .537 (+3.0) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers/Chesapeake Blue Crabs: 66-42 .611 (+14.0) Wild Card 1: Baltimore Barons/Washington Senators (MVB): 68-40 .630 (+13.0) Wild Card 2: Norfolk Cavaliers/Chesapeake Blue Crabs (MVC): 66-42 .611 (+11.0) Players of the Week: Delaware: Naoaki Okubo, Georgetown Sixteens: 9-24, 5 HR's, 9 RBI's MarVa: Mike Fritz, Salisbury Ports: 14-25, 3 HR's, 12 RBI's, 7 R's Power Rankings: 1) Washington Senators (133.3) 2) Baltimore Barons (116.3) 3) Chadds Ford Cannons (116.0) 4) Georgetown Sixteens (115.0) 5) Milford Clippers (115.0) News: Dover Generals: Lost 24-year short-stop Gonzalo Magana for 80 games after he tested positive violating the leagues drug policy. Demoted RP Gallin Krall to Triple A San Juan. Placed RP Dani Rúbio on the active roster. Activated RP Dani Rúbio from the disabled list. Sent CL Tim Meyers to Triple A San Juan for injury rehab. Injuries: MR Dustin McNeil, torn UCL, 8 9 months, 60-day DL SS Chris Mildmay, strained oblique (DtD), 2 weeks, 11-day DL SP Gehrig Pearl, Torn triceps, 4 weeks, 11-day DL OF Byung-Ho Ch'on, ruputred finger tendon, 7-8, 11-day DL After praising him last week he got hurt early in the week and was listed as DtD, at that point I should have questions the injury, but decided to let him play. I though "minimal" wasn't going to be that big of a deal... however, now he is out for 2-weeks with a stained oblique. I shouldn't have thought so little of the injury... so now what? Play Brad Sims (.265-3-10) or go with Ayala (.312-7-24) from AAA? I will have to think about this one and what is best for the team... either way it will be hard to replace .299-10-46, 88 R's, 42 steals, 4.1 WAR and a FPct of .985 at SS. Other/Roster News: none GM Notes: We got pwned by the Georgetown Sixteens losing 3 of 4 in G-Town including being shut-out. If we want to make it out Delaware Conference we will have to take them down and I am just not sure we will be able to do that with what we have. I am pretty sure our offense can handle them, then again they held our bats at bay. Series like that scare me, it shows our weaknesses and really at this point of the season I can't do much to fix them. Is it me or is it just coincidence that every time I talk about how much faith I have in this team or how awesome a player is playing that the following week we slump and/or that player is lost due to an injury? I feel like I should stop writing these write-ups as I am just a continuous jinx to this team. Maybe I should talk about how poorly Jose Matos has hit this year and I how demoting might be a good idea, or how we can't beat the Iron Pigs to save our lives despite this being a must win game. Speaking of the Iron Pigs, next week might be our biggest week of the season with games against the Iron Pigs and the Clippers. These teams are good, and they are key to our division championship and/or our wild card. I would be lying if I didn't say I was nervous going into Week 19. The biggest decision I have to make is who is playing SS for me? Do I let Brad Sims have a shot? Good defender poor bat, or send him down and bring up Jose Ayala? Ayala was supposed to be my SS to start the season before an injury ruined that. He has a lot of promise, but do I want the clock to start on him now? I have to think about the future too. I could send Sims down and 'force" Juan Guzman to start, but I am not sure that is a great idea either. Sims is a great defensive short-stop but can't hit... maybe start with Sims? See what happens. Two weeks isn't that long. Right? I feel bad for Robert Shepherd. Two starts this week two L's, and the team scored a total of 0, yes ZERO, runs for him! In his 9 starts, 7 of which have been quality, we have scored only 3.33 runs per game for him. Yes 3.33, which is off from the 5.4 we are averaging per game this season. No wonder he is 2-3 despite his 2.67 ERA. That is just awful. Time to see what happens and get this week going... could be the biggest week of the season for us. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Seaford Blue Jays: 67-40 .626 (+1.5) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 66-42 .611 (+8.0) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 66-42 .611 (+11.0) Wild Card 1: Milford Clippers (DEC): 66-42 .611 (+9.5) Wild Card 2: Christiana Blue Hens (DEN): 58-50 .537 (+1.5) MV Beltway: Baltimore Barons/Washington Senators: 68-40 .630 (+20.5) MV Mountain: Ellicott City Express: 58-50 .537 (+3.0) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers/Chesapeake Blue Crabs: 66-42 .611 (+14.0) Wild Card 1: Baltimore Barons/Washington Senators (MVB): 68-40 .630 (+13.0) Wild Card 2: Norfolk Cavaliers/Chesapeake Blue Crabs (MVC): 66-42 .611 (+11.0) Players of the Week: Delaware: Will Waites, Harrington Ponies: 13-23, RBI MarVa: Manuel Miranda, Washington Senators: 9-18, 5 HR's, 11 RBI's, 10 R's Power Rankings: 1) Washington Senators (125.3) 2) Milford Clippers (121.1) 3) Baltimore Barons (116.7) 4) Norfolk Cavaliers (116.1) 5) Georgetown Sixteens (114.9) News: Martinsburg Mountaineers: SS Ignacio Coronado had his hitting streaked stopped by the Cape May Beacons at 22-games. To fill the slot of Mildmay I went with pitcher Tim Meyers. He will be back in the closer role, which makes me nervous, and Brad Sims will be playing SS batting 9th, which makes me nervous too! Going to be an interesting week. Placed 1B Naofumi Ohayashi on the 11-day disabled list, retroactive to 08/10/2038. Placed SS José Ayala on the 40-man roster. Purchased the contract of SS José Ayala from Triple A San Juan. Well with Ohayashi going down I couldn't wait any longer, up comes one of our top prospects Jose Ayala. He will be our starting SS after hitting the ball well in AAA (.305-7-28) I hope he can bring that here too. Injuries: MR Dustin McNeil, torn UCL, 8 months, 60-day DL CF Mikel Wallsteet, back stiffness (DtD), 2 weeks, 11-day DL SS Chris Mildmay, strained oblique (DtD), 6-days, 11-day DL SP Gehrig Pearl, Torn triceps, 3 weeks, 11-day DL 1B Naofumi Ohayashi, torn thumb ligament, 4-5 weeks, 11-day DL OF Byung-Ho Ch'on, ruputred finger tendon, 6 weeks, 11-day DL Another week and more injuries. This seaosn our injuries seem to have gone haywire, I guess I should have been expecting it at some point... and here it is. Losing Wallstreet and Ohayashi is going to be tough to make up for. Wallstreet's .320-22-95 are all team highs, and Ohayashi's .269-16-64 is top three on the team (less his average). How do you make up for that? Eugene Todd, Roger Phillips, Melvin Wallstreet, Jose Ayala and Brad Sims have big shoes to fill. Other/Roster News: GM Notes: Wow this was a tough week... we had the chance to put the Pigs down, but we couldn't even get a W. Worst part? 7 games all at home this week, that just shouldn't have happened. Sort of painful. Not really sure what more to say about last week, expect it was an ugly week and my confidence in this team got crushed. I hate it, every time I get behind this team, we implode... ugh. Jose Ayala's bat is a little off here during his first visit to Chadds Ford, which makes sense. He is 2-16 (.125), but that just isn't good enough for me the Cannons right now. He will still be up for now, but when Mildmay gets back and Ayala is hitting as he is, he will be headed back down to AAA. In his 4 games with the Cannons he has played a solid SS, fielding all 11 chances successfully, and posting a 1.007 Eff. His ZR is 0.00, but I do feel like that will go up the more he plays. I know this is going to jinx him and I should just shut up, but I am happy to report that rookie catcher Jose Matos is starting to find his groove. His average is up to .290 with an .767 OPS. After a slow start his swing is starting to look better each game. I am hoping he can continue this and start to develop some more power, over the fence or into the gaps. Either way I won't mind. We are putting a lot of pressure on our young guys, with four rookies in the starting lineup. Can our rookies keep us in the lineup while our vets heal? Are we putting too much pressure on them? Should I find a veteran on the free-agent wire? A leader who could help our lineup? I am not sure what to do... I just hope Gutierrez, Ayala, Leal and Matos can keep it together... I just hope this is the start of something bigger. At the beginning of the season if you told me we would have the 8th best ERA out of our rotation I would have called you crazy, but there we are, 8th best and I don't see us getting any better. I believe I have over evaluated these guys, and with that being said I think it is time to make some big changes once this season is over. I need to get a little more depth in the rotation or maybe give the young guys Dave Stewart, Gallin Krall, Reed Davis and Jose Santos a shot... This team might not be a 'win now' team, but maybe a win in 2040 team. I am not sure how we can get swept by the Iron Pigs in four games and only lose 3.5 games in the standings. What that says to me is we really missed an opportunity to put them down. It is just frustrating I can't really put it into words and now we head into a week where we a play top teams once again... I am starting to get a little nervous, especially since this week we don't have Milday, Wallstreet or Ohayashi... pressure is building. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Seaford Blue Jays/Milford Clippers: 75-46 .620 (+21.0) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 70-51 .579 (+5.5) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 75-46 .620 (+12.0) Wild Card 1: Seaford Blue Jays/Milford Clippers (DEC): 75-46 .620 (+11.0) Wild Card 2: Wilmington Iron Pigs (DEN): 64-56 .533 (+0.5) MV Beltway: Baltimore Barons/Washington Senators: 77-44 .636 (+22.5) MV Mountain: Ellicott City Express: 63-58 .521 (+1.0) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers: 74-47 .612 (+4.0) Wild Card 1: Baltimore Barons/Washington Senators (MVB): 77-44 .636 (+15.0) Wild Card 2: Chesapeake Blue Crabs (MVC): 70-51 .579 (+8.0) Players of the Week: Delaware: Gabriel Martinez, Milton Brewers: 10-23, 7 HR's, 15 RBI's MarVa: Manuel Vazquez, King George Royals: 12-28, 5 HR's, 10 RBI's Power Rankings: 1) Georgetown Sixteens (120.6) 2) Washington Senators (118.5) 3) Milford Clippers (117.6) 4) Baltimore Barons (117.5) 5) Seaford Blue Jays (112.6) News: New Castle Colonials: Lost MR Hee-Seop So (4-6 6.75, SV) for 4-weeks with a sore elbow. Our pitching has started to fade and I am very close to sending Tim Meyers to AAA to keep him off the mound. Franco wasn't great, but he was better... Maybe September will be a better month with some younger players coming up, I really don't know... the sad thing is we are now worse in August than we were in April, and I have to say, that job with the Salisbury Ports is looking better every day... Nothing like looking over your pitching staff and seeing snow flakes... John Robertson, Reed Davis and Francisco Franco, have them and I would argue Gregorio Costello and Tim Meyers deserve them... This month has been awful for these guys and I need them now more than ever! Robertson is 2-2 7.23 in 4 starts this month, Reed Davis has a 13.50 ERA in 2 games, Francisco Franco has pitched in 6-games and posted a 33.00 ERA, Tim Meyers, not much better 0-2 9.45 in 7 games, and Costello 2-1 5.53 in 4 starts, including 3 hits batsmen!! I think something needs to be done, badly. Franco and Meyers might be heading down, I have to think about this... I need to get Wallstreet back, he is somewhat the spark to this offense. I don't have anyone down on the farm who offers much at this point. I have some that will in the future, but now isn't the time. This is a tough time we are still have one of the games best offense, but something is missing. I really was expecting more power from these guys than 8th in the league... then again two of our big power hitters are on the DL... I need Gutierrez and Leal to pick it up. I feel like I am in a free-fall and there is nothing I can do about it. Mikel Wallstreet needs to get healthy and hopefully that will make a difference. In the meantime though what do I do? I feel like I need an injection of b12 to get this team going... Maybe I need a "sparkplug" on this team I have no idea. All I do no is we need some W's and we need them badly. Problem is we play a first place team for 3-games this week... hopefully we can get our mojo back so we can at least take down Newark! I am starting to worry. Truly I am at a loss of words I am not sure what to say that can make me feel better or make this situation better. I am nervous and with 27-games to go that we can hang on to this... the nerves are hitting. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Seaford Blue Jays: 79-48 .622 (+2.0) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 72-55 .567 (+4.0) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 80-47 .630 (+15.0) Wild Card 1: Milford Clippers (DEC): 77-50 .606 (+9.5.0) Wild Card 2: Christiana Blue Hens (DEN): 68-59 .535 (+0.5) MV Beltway: Washington Senators: 82-45 .646 (+3.0) MV Mountain: Ellicott City Express: 67-60 .528 (+1.0) MV Coastal: Chesapeake Blue Crabs: 75-52 .591 (+1.0) Wild Card 1: Baltimore Barons (MVB): 79-48 .622 (+13.0) Wild Card 2: Norfolk Cavaliers (MVC): 70-51 .579 (+8.0) Players of the Week: Delaware: Brian Anderson, Newark Millers: 11-21, 2 HR's, 4 RBI's, 4 R's MarVa: Jesus Hernandez, Washington Senators: 11-17, 3 HR's, 12 RBI's Power Rankings: 1) Georgetown Sixteens (122.4) 2) Washington Senators (119.2) 3) Seaford Blue Jays (117.0) 4) Baltimore Barons (111.0) 5) Chesapeake Blue Crabs (109.3) News: Ellicott City Express: Catcher Alonso Sierra joined the 400-HR club with a big 2-run blast against the Baltimore Barons. Time to try something new, so back comes Krall and Jose Santos who is 9-4 4.38 in 26 AAA starts. Patterson is going to go with Santos as our closer so we will see what happens... He stole his 44th base this week, becoming hte first Cannons player since 2032 to reach 30+ steals and the only ever to hit 40. Breaking the team record of 38 set by Manny Hernandez in 2032. Mildmay is hitting .303 on the year with a .376 OBPct, he has been the teams MVP. If I can free-up some money I am going to offer Mildmay some dough. Fingers crossed we can come to terms... His 'back-up' Jose Ayala hasn't hit the ball as well as I had hoped, but he is hitting the ball better than his first week. Right now he is hitting .213-2-13 in 47 AB's, with 3 steals in 11 games. I like both of these guys hopefully they can be a solid SS/2B combo for years to come. Speaking of lead-off men, last season Phil Davis held that role and did a solid job himself hitting .311 with an OBPCt of .389... this year with the acquisition of Mildmay Davis was moved down the lineup and has spent most of his time hitting in the 3rd hole. He is on pace for a career hit 21 HR's and 86 RBI's, not too shabby for a "fast-guy". I am hoping there will be interest in him in the off-season. Seems like I praising my offense this week, and it looks like Lorenzo Leal is ready to take over an OF slot. He isn't the best glove around, but he is hitting the ball especially of late. ON the year he has hit .268-13-36, but it has been July (.303-8-16) and August (.291-4-16) that have really seen him shine. I am hoping he can keep this up he has been a nice addition... the problem with Leal? His negative zone rating. Santos looked good this week going 3 games with 5K's in 4 innings. He did allow 4 hits, which I would like to see down, but it is nice seeing a closer not blow any games. Santos would rather be a starter in his career, but unless he can get that 7-stamina up he will most likely end up in the bullpen... which at this point has been a blessing in disguise. This is it the home stretch the final 27 games... we have to continue to play like we did last week, did you see what we did? We swept a top team, the Blue Jays, which is something I didn't know we had in us. The 3-games over the Blue Jays makes the 2-2 against the Millers much easier to take. But beating the Blue Jays makes me feel like we have something brewing. I know we aren't the best team around (unless we are healthy and playing well), but I really don't think we are an under .500 club either, which is how we will finish August. We start off next week playing the Ponies a team we should handle, but the rest of the way we play some teams that are going to make us earn this playoff slot. If you asked me what I thought our chances of making the playoffs was? I'd say 50/50, according to the analysts they give us a 98.7% chance, but I think they must be smoking something... and they ain't sharing, if they were this season would be much easier to take... The road ahead of us, the 25 game magic number, is way down the way... I am bummed we aren't playing the Iron Pigs and the Blue Hens anymore this season. I am just speaking gibberish right now, not sure what to say... But one thing I do know sending down Tim Meyers was 100% the right move! Want to know what he did last week in AAA? It was ugly, 4 games a loss 3.1 IP, 7 H, 3 HR's, 7 R's and a whopping 18.90 ERA! Makes me think maybe I need to focus on some pitching in the off-season. It is hard to believe we only have a 4.5 game lead, it is hard to believe we will finish August with a losing record... Despite going 5-2 last week the nerves haven't gone away... if anything we went 5-2 and only gained a 1/2 game make the nerves spike up. I am not sure this up-and-down season has been good for me. I need Mikel back... He was listed as DtD on 8/15 and now it is 8/30 and he has been on the DL... what is going on? ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Milford Clippers: 82-52 .612 (+1.0, M28) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 77-57 .575 (+4.5, M25) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 85-49 .634 (+18.0, M11) Wild Card 1: Seaford Blue Jays (DEC): 81-53 .604 (+9.0, M20) Wild Card 2: Wilmington Iron Pigs (DEN): 72-61 .541 (+0.5, M29) MV Beltway: Washington Senators: 88-46 .657 (+5.0, M24) MV Mountain: Ellicott City Express/King George Royals/Martinsburg Mountaineers: 70-64 .522 (+3.0, M29) MV Coastal: Chesapeake Blue Crabs: 78-56 .582 (+2.0, M27) Wild Card 1: Baltimore Barons (MVB): 83-51 .619 (+13.0, M16) Wild Card 2: Norfolk Cavaliers (MVC): 76-58 .567 (+6.0, M23) Players of the Week: Delaware: Felipe Quintana, Georgetown Sixteens: 18-28, 4 HR's, 10 RBI's MarVa: John Minor, Washington Senators: 14-28, 5 HR's, 15 RBI's Power Rankings: 1) Washington Senators (127.2) 2) Georgetown Sixteens (119.2) 3) Baltimore Barons (113.5) 4) Milford Clippers (113.1) 5) Seaford Blue Jays (104.8) News: Christiana Blue Hens: SS Jim Shelton collected a hit in 20-straight games before seeing his steak snapped against the Colonials. Funny you have the Ocean City Tourists in your league for Delmarva. That is literally the exact same team that I have in my Maryland exclusive fictional league.

Purchased the contract of RP Don Stewart from Triple A San Juan. That is it for now, but there may be more as the month progresses. I am excited to see what Don Stewart has to offer, he may play a big role in the Cannons staff in 2039. Injuries: SP Ying-Hua Ji, Sore back, DtD, 4-days MR Dustin McNeil, torn UCL, 8 months, 60-day DL 1B Naofumi Ohayashi, torn thumb ligament, 2-3 weeks, 11-day DL OF Byung-Ho Ch'on, ruputred finger tendon, 4 weeks, 11-day DL SP Gehrig Pearl, AAA Rehab, DtD sprained ankle (1-day) Gehrig Pearl was sent to AAA for a rehab assignment and threw 4.1 innings, during his first start, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 2. Mikel Wallstreet is finally back! Joined the team for the finally game of the week and had a solid game going 2-5 for a HR and a 2B, driving in 4 and scoring 2 times. Ying-Hua Ji is day-to-day with a sore back, he shouldn't miss a start, but I am very nervous about this one. Other/Roster News: none GM Notes: Have to love weeks like this. However, all this proves is we can beat bad teams... something what we have been able to do all year long. Its the good teams we have had issues with, and they are the ones that make me worried. Next week will be a different story as we start to play some tougher teams. We did gain a couple of games last week, which is huge so I my fingers are crossed we can continue this pace. I am worried about calling up Tim Meyers and Francisco Franco, because my guess is Patterson will move one of them to the closer role... and at this point why would I want to take Jose Santos out of the closer role? He has 6-saves, none blown since being called up... Great, I brought this up so he will blow 3 next week... I hope not, but really he has been awesome so far. Over the course of this season I have learned that I have some talented young kids on this roster. Players like Ambrose Gutierrez (.268-4-38), Jose Matos (.302-7-39), and Lorenzo Leal (.264-13-39). This is the future of the offense, they will be the ones in the lineup day and and day out over the next 3-seasons (give or take). With players like Otto Carillo (AAA), Jose Ayala (.232-2-13), and Tully Maxwell (.217-2-27) fighting for time. As much as this team is going to change over the off-season this is still and exciting time to be in Chadds Ford. I do believe we have a bright future. Oscar Robinson (38 G, 6-3 2.43, 3 SV, 63.0 IP, 75 K) seems to have found himself this season. I have had my eye on him for a while and after a pretty impressive 2036 he just collapsed last season. I am hoping that his resurgence this year means he is the player from 2036 and not last year. Pitchers seem to be so fickle. Robert Shepherd isn't the Robert Shepherd of 2037, the pitcher whom won the Golden Arm, but he is still pretty good. He is having issues getting W's however this season. In 14 starts, he is 2-4 3.43. The biggest difference this season and last is his BB/9, which have gone up from 1.2 to 3.5, that is an extra 2 base-runners per game... I am hoping he will continue to get better and have a great September. He may be the key to my success. We are so close yet so far from winning our 3rd straight division title. I am happy with the fact that I have been able to do that with this team, but I want more than just the division title. I am not sure this is they year though, we have just been way too up and down. I guess if we get hot going into the playoffs anything is possible, but I am not that confident after the way we played in August. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Milford Clippers: 86-54 .614 (+2.0, M21) DE Northern: Chadds Ford Cannons: 83-57 .593 (+6.5, M17) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 89-51 .636 (+22.0, M1) Wild Card 1: Seaford Blue Jays (DEC): 84-53 .600 (+8.0, M15) Wild Card 2: Wilmington Iron Pigs (DEN): 76-63 .547 (+0.5, M23) MV Beltway: Washington Senators: 91-49 .650 (+4.0, M19) MV Mountain: King George Royals: 75-65 .536 (+2.0, M21) MV Coastal: Chesapeake Blue Crabs: 80-60 .571 (+1.0, M22) Wild Card 1: Baltimore Barons (MVB): 87-53 .621 (+14.0, M9) Wild Card 2: Norfolk Cavaliers (MVC): 79-61 .564 (+6.0, M17) Players of the Week: Delaware: Enrique Lopez, Seaford Blue Jays: 8-20, 4 HR's, 8 RBI's, 6 R's MarVa: Manuel Vazquez, King George Royals: 10-23, 3 HR's, 10 RBI's Power Rankings: 1) Georgetown Sixteens (120.4) 2) Washington Senators (120.0) 3) Chadds Ford Cannons (118.7) 4) Milford Clippers (117.6) 5) Baltimore Barons (113.5) News: Wilmington Iron Pigs: 3B Matt Fontenot's hitting streak came to an end at 21-games, with an 0-4 game against the Brewers.
