Pitcher editor/DIPS engine
I've noticed that after 6.1, the pitcher editor is still experiencing the same issues when using the OOTP6 engine.
Any word on whether this will get resolved with another update/patch?

What I tried...just now...was switch it to the OOTP 5 engine....than go back to edit a pitcher. With 6.1 it now allows you to input the old ratings the old way by entering stats. Once I was finished editing the pitcher I went back and switched back to the OOTP 6 engine. For the player I tried just now it seemed to have worked.

I'm just a little worried about random numbers popping up in conversion to and fro. If you haven't experienced this, I suppose I can give it a shot as a workaround. Thanks for the tip!

I think what Dan is referring to is the way pitching ratings will change when editing. You change Stuff, for example, and movement will change on its own when you try to save it. Man, I wish I had quit my job a few weeks sooner so I had more time to test this stuff more.

The editing of pitchers still fluxes each rating when you edit stuff/movement/control. I think this has been described as a feature of the game (due to the DIPS engine). Overall its not horribly bad, but if you are looking to have very specific numbers, I don't think you'll always get them. It also still changes the hitting ratings (at least the gap) when you edit pitching ratings. These I'm not sure how they are related.

Another big problem with using version 5's engine with 6
In historical career replays...some players come in and set the world on fire...others take 3 or 4 years. Perfect examples Fernando Valenzuela Using the prescribed formula...NO problems putting in his career numbers...BUT how do I put in his talent in the 6 engine? If left as is...he will get BETTER in all likelihood then worse. Sandy Koufax Putting in his numbers from career he will start out decent, but he will stay there. How do I put in his talents in 6? He will never become the Koufax of 5 years into his career with the editor broken |
