[QUOTE=Henry] I even make notes in my league journal expounding on some of the events.

All that's in my journal is a (currently) 2,046 page manifesto of unrequited anger at the world, in the form of a single paragraph.

If you add "The End.", it will be 2048 and compress much better.

(It's not much of a joke; if you don't get it, don't worry. )

Yeah, I suppose the game could do that for you, but imagination actually has a lot more outcomes
If I wanted to "imagine", then I'd play a RPG.

I play baseball sims for the stats, or rather, for a quantative explanation for why events occur during my game.

Well, as I said (or alluded to), if we leave it to the game to explain everything, Markus would have to add a ton of text-based reasoning behind many of the things that occur during the game. That would take time away from other things, and in the end, still wouldn't be variable enough. Then we would get the complaints of "I'm tired of reading Joe Blow retired because of one of 10 reasons" ... well yeah, your right.

I love making up interesting reasons for players to retire. Loss of interest or disillusionment. An off-season injury. Desire to go out on top and not have a decline.

Maddux retiring with 299 wins? I'd probably say he did it on purpose because he preferred the uneven look of 299 to boring old 300. Who knows?

Trying to get a guy in trouble in the forum doesn't come up with a positive answer either. There is an inconsistency in your statements wanting to know why a guy "really" retires and then only playing for the stats.

Maybe your 38 year old roided up MVP got caught in some real drug testing implemented by your league. You know that is one of the hidden ratings, steriod factor. There is a bug in the game when it comes to the steriod factor. The player is supposed to be banned from the league and his stats stricken from the record books but Markus has been not able to get it to work.

Just call it the "Ricky Williams Effect" or the "Barry Sanders Effect" or the "Robert Smith Effect" or the . . .
