I think the Crips are or were one of the more well-known urban street gangs, along with the Bloods. I have no idea if this is actually valid information, but believe it to be so. Would make some sense as Compton is, at least in many 'gangsta-rap' songs, considered a popular street gang locale.

Yeah, the Crips are one of the more well known gangs around the US along with the Bloods. In the late 80's/eary 90's was when they were the most well known and popular because there was a big war going on between the Bloods and Crips. Now you don't hear so much about them because there's so many different gangs and they've just kinda faded away from the spotlight.

uhhhh, no...crips have not faded away, they are still 1 of the biggest 5 street gangs in america. they, along with the bloods, have splintered into many various factions, usually centered around a particular area/neighborhood. there is a lot more in-fighting than used to be and i equate it to the same thing that happened with the Italian or Columbian Mafias. The head honcho gets busted/killed and 8 different guys think they should be the new leader. Next thing you know you have 8 warring factions of the same gang/mob. There are currently 198 Crip affiliated gangs in LA alone. A lot of which are from the same "family" but reside and "claim" their own particular neighborhood/street (ie. Rollin 20s, Rollin 30s, Rollin 40s, etc). BTW - Snoop Doggy Dogg is probably the most well known Crip of all-time, to the average american that is, and claims Rollin 20s Crips from Long Beach.

Just to give you an idea, these are crips (blue) and bloods (red) territories in Compton.

ok for the logo....thanks for the effort. it is a nice logo, but knowing what a Crip is, i think its a little too "pretty/girly" and not "hard/gangsta" enough

maybe you could try the ball with a blue bandana tied around it instead of the CC or even try it with the ball having a scowling face and bandana. i think id like to see the lettering in a grafitti "spray" type lettering too

I think you may a problem on several levels. One, people may not want to condone the violence attributed to your team name and the gang lifestyle. Two, people may not want to get shot for designing an unpleasant or offending logo. These type of gangs are known to retaliate for the smallest slight to their character.

I would suggest finding an alternative team name so as not to legitimize the violence in Compton.

i can respect your opinion but, respectfully disagree....take a look at some of the logos at the logobank and youll see that the violence argument doesnt seem to be a problem (there are other gang related logos there too)

i just think this might be a hard task at first glance and if you designers out there are afraid of being killed (c'mon really?) PM me your results to remain anonymous. this is an offline solo league that none of the "wrong" people will come across.

done it myself, although its horrible, so no need to fear being killed for disrespecting the crips

if you happen to be a crip and you're seeing this.....i did nothing disrespetful, i used a modification of the handsign above and "CPT Crips" in a blue spraypainted style....please forgive me and if its not ok, post so here or PM me and I'll change the team's city and name
