Angry "I want a winning team"

What do players consider as a winning team? Right now im the expos and i am 31 and 29. 2 games above .500. Unfortunatly bringing in Derek Jeter, Derek Lowe and Jauque Jones isnt enough to make Vidro happy... Can I get some advice?

I may easily be wrong, but to the best of my understanding this involves being in first or second place. Players don't pay any attention to their teammates when it comes to this, only the team's record and place.

This was in OOTP 5 so it may be different now, but then I was in the middle of the World Series with a team and my star pitcher wanted a winning team so he would not re-sign with me.

I wanted to sign a 'coach' with an 'legend' grade and he wanted a winning team. I had just finished as the NL wild card and was eliminated 3 games to 1 in the playoffs. I believe I had about 90 wins. Can't do much better than that. What does He consider a winning team?

I had a player say that early in the year on my team that was over .500, but when I kept on winning he changed his mind later on and signed with me.

There seem to be degrees of "wanting to play for a winner," correct?

Some guys say they want to play for a winner and won't even accept an offer; others will play for a loser if you pay them enough. So perhaps they have their own unique definitions of a winning team too. One guy might be OK with a team that's 82-80; another might demand the Yankees.

Or am I giving the game credit for too much nuance?

Hmm - considering that there does seem to be some randomness, maybe you've picked up on the "magical ingredient" that we've all been wondering about. Who knows? In the meantime, I'll try not to dwell on it and just win as much as can

I know that's not correct.

IN UDBF, as the Devil Rays, using CBL 2.0 (I think) and OOTP6, I traded for Carlos Beltran.

When I was playing .500 or barely above .500 ball, he "wanted to play for a winner" - after a recent sim, I was 5 games above .500, and he agreed to sign a six year extension with me. After getting to 5 games above .500, I was still in 4th place behind Boston, New York and Toronto, ahead of only Baltimore.

Thank gawd, because I sold the farm to get him too.

I still get this message every once in a while, despite the fact my team has won 100+ games each of the past 8 seasons, and 4 World Series.

I'm thinking it's more of a "eye candy" thing.
