Service Time

Can we edit pro service time yet? On conversion, I have brand new rookies with 5 years pro service because they happen to be 23 years old. This screws up a lot of features if the service time is incorrect. I'm not mad that the game doesn't handle the conversion well, it would be tough to do, but at least allow me the opportunity to fix it.

You can do it quite easily with Pierre's editor. Just open up the Career Editor. Open your league. Then select the team and position of the player in question. Then it's just a matter of making the edit and saving the player in the Editor.

Thank you Sporr...couldn't get it to work at first, but I found you need the latest file. I had the version that wouldn't save the player edits.

Of couse, maybe OOTP Developments and/or SI Games should send some of that money from sales of the game to these 3rd party developers for doing their work for them?

I can't figure out how to work the career editor though.

I open the Career editor.

I click open league, and select my league.

A list of all the teams shows up in the left hand column under "Teams."

What next? I can't figure out what you do. I click on the teams, nothing happens. I try dragging them, nothing happens. Do you have to do something with the "Export" choice under the "Options" menu? I can't figure out how you work this. if someone could explain it step by step i would appreciate it.

I think I figured it out...you click on the position at the bottom of the screen, and all the players show up. The problem was that on my screen, for some reason you can hardly see the positions. All I see is "P" and sort of "C," and then the rest of the positions can't be viewed. The Career editor box is too big for my screen, and if I shrink it I just lose all the positions at the bottom.

Hmm, I'm not sure i'll be able to highlight all the positions. anyone got an idea how to fix this? I got a normal monitor, not huge but decent size...hmmm...

After you select a team, then at the bottom left, select a position - P,1B,2B,3B,SS,LF,CF,RF,DH. Once you have selected a team and a position, then all the players show up in the middle section of the screen.

Do you have your screen setting set at 1024 x 768? That's what I need to do - use the same setting as I use for OOTP.

uhh....i don't know?

i'm a computer idiot. i guess you would change this in control panels?

but i'm not changing the ****, it's the same as it always is. it works for OOTP, it works for everything, except this editor.

anyway, i worked around by just clicking on Pitchers, and then using the arrows to move down to the position i want. I can't see what position is highlighted, but i can see the players pop up on the screen. this is a pretty easy program, i was just totally stumped because I didn't see these positions on the damn screen.

too bad you can't change the days of service, only whole number years. so OOTP still adds a particular # of days of service in addition to the # of years you put in the editor. you need to pick the whole number which makes it closest to reality i guess. this will mess up a few people w/ eligibility for free agency and arbitration, but it's better than before i edited them all.

why doesn't OOTP count this **** right? i thought it just got screwed up in the switch from OOTP5 to 6, but that doesn't explain all of it. i have young players who had 0 major league days when I converted to 6, and their card showed them with 0 days after I converted. then some of them, after i promoted them for a few days, show ML service time of 1 year and X days, instead of 0 years and Y days. not good.
