Both Fighters Predict
Is it just me, or does the "Both fighters predict a win tonight..." comment show up in every single fight?
Jim, please fix this. Overall, commentary is much improved, but it still needs work. Add some stuff for variety. How about "The two men spar for an opening." "Wow! That one came all the way from the old country!" "He shook (name here) badly with that one." "(Name here) has him around the neck and drives a wicked shot to the gut!" "Ow! He caught (name here) in the slats with that one!" "He hit him so hard, my teeth hurt!" "Holy cow! That left hook nearly took his head off!" "Man! If that one had landed it'd be lights out!" You get the idea. There needs to be more action. I had a fight the other day between two sluggers, and in one round only one punch was mentioned in the commentary. Sometimes it reads like both guys are running in the opposite direction. One last thing. Several times I've read where they fought, say, four rounds already, and it's only seconds into the 4th round. The commentary is so essential to this game, Jim. You've made HUGE improvements, but this is like an engine that needs more fine tuning to get it to sound just right. Cap

Agree with the commentary remarks by Cap. I also think there are too many fights ending on swollen eye damage.

Another part of the commentary that needs work is that there are too many uses of pronouns where you don't know what fighter it is referring to.
Example: Johnson hooks off the jab and bangs a shot to the body. He goes to the head, the body and now back to the head. That was a beautiful sequence of punches. Marshall just landed a three punch combo! The "He" in the 2nd line is confusing. You would think it was Johnson as his was the last name mentioned. In the 3rd line you see it was Marshall. Another example: Muhammad bobs and weaves his way inside and lets his hands go, scoring with a hook. He eyes look good. He seems to be clear-headed after last round's knockdown. First, it should be "his" and not he. Second, it sounds like it's referring to Muhammad, but it's not. It was the other fighter who was knocked down in the prevous round. There are many uses of these confusing pronouns. |

Totally agree, Martin. Very confusing at times. Is updating commentary a difficult procedure, guys?

Judging from the output to the HTML, there seem to be codes for stuff, so I'm wondering if the commentary is pulled from a page of possibilities or something.
I know in games like Championship Manager it was easy to edit commentary as it was all in one big text file, so you could go through and correct the mistakes. And yes, "predicting a win" happens at every fight I've seen I think. |

Sometimes I think the commentary attributes a foul to the wrong person even though the judging correctly attributes the foul.
Mcvey is arguing his case but to no avail a point will be deducted when in fact it was the opponent Jack Johnson who did the low blow. Anybody else seen that? |
