I was thinking that it would be a nice feature to have a guage of some kind from the owner as to how close you are as a GM or Manager to getting fired.

Do you use owner goals? He will let you know there.

I'll add, they should have a "vote of confidence" series of in-game stories that (not always but often) precede a firing.
