Working off a slightly dated version of the 26 DB bud, but noticed a few potential anomalies in the NeL Class of 1930:
Thanks G

Changing numbers into names
I was importing players into my game and the players came back with numbers instead of names, i.e. 23 7 and 17 10. All the other bio information was there, birthdate, hometown, etc. The bios also contained historical ID, from which I got the player's name from the master.csv file. However, it was rather time consuming and I had 168 pages of numbers/no names in the list, about 3,500 names.
My question is: has anyone else encountered this problem and is there a way to change a large batch of numbers into names? |

There is no way to replace the name fields with the proper names en masse. You could randomize every name in your game though but I don't think that is what you are going for. I'd prob have sorted them, deleted them and troubleshot it rather than one-by-one-fixing. Impressed you even tried!

In theory couldn't he export the rosters using the normal export rosters tool and copy/paste names (assuming he has them in a table format to do so) and reimport them?
Does that mess anything up with a historical save? |

I’ve never exported rosters so unsure what it produces but if you have a unique ID for both lists you could set up a VLOOKUP in the broken fields so it auto grabs the correct one as you paste the formula over the broken fields. Then copy the column and paste as value.

I may be missing something but for some reason when I import some players from the 19th century Cuban League, the game will attach pitching stats along with the actual years and teams they played for that seem to have been pulled out of nowhere since it often happens with position players and both seamheads and b ref have no record of these stats. I just use the B ref tag for import and no matter what position they're listed as on there it will just import them as a starting pitcher or relief pitcher every time.

I'll provide a few more examples once I get back home but one is Alfredo Arcano who has these pitching stats listed. They seem like they can possibly be legit maybe and I know B ref has less info than seamheads for these players in some cases, but I can't imagine seamheads would miss including something like that and I'm trying to figure out where these stats came from, since I imported using the BR. I'm not super familiar yet with how the coding of the database works.

Not sure if it's still like this since my version of the game is a year old but it imports Tip O'Neill with the hispanic facial type

I can't seem to find an entry for Negro Leaguer Augustus Saunders (saundau01 / saunde000aug) in either the MLB or MiLB master file.

I don't see him either. I'll have to input all his info and create him.

Any idea if the problem I've referenced in this thread is being fixed?

Wait...maybe I'm wrong but I think the whole STL/BAL thing is out of order right now in the historical database?
I've always operated under the understanding that the Brown Stockings -> Browns (Van der Ahe) -> Cardinals and that it was Brewers -> Browns ->Orioles. |
