I see the Falcons have been studying the Steelers' kick-return plays. Wouldn't have been my choice but…
Kirk Cousins now in for his "trade-for-me-PLEASE!!" audition. His receivers aren't exactly helping. They must love The Kirk-o too much to speed him on his way. Awww. |

Who has 14 penalties and wins? Not the Packers. Unreal.

That has to be the worst flea-flicker EVER the Bears just scored on. Where is the 'Boys pass rush?
Oh, right. Green Bay. |

Seattle 38, New Orleans 6. End of 1st half. No Saints turnovers either.

I think for fantasy I'm playing any offensive player who is facing Dallas from this point forward.

Bears use up the final 10 minutes of the 3rd Quarter on a drive that ends with Caleb Williams throwing his 4th TD pass of the day. (It would be five, but Odunze dropped one on the possession that resulted in a FG.)
As Larry Merchant once wrote, "there will be money to be made betting against both teams." (I've already used them both in the Pick-the Loser pool, however.) |

It's pretty f*ing cool that Mac Jones, after he was projected to be drafted by the Niners, is now playing his heart out and winning games for SF as a backup to Purdy. He kept his head down after the mess in NE and JAX, and I hope he continues to do well and gets a starting gig somewhere in the future.

Forget the pass rush, Caleb had wide open guys in 1 second. The Cowboys could have had the best 4 pass rushers in the history of the league in their prime and still got picked apart. Guys were wide open in 2 seconds. Caleb sucks. He was missing wide open WRs, still he picked the Cowboys apart. Sonny Liston is on D for the Cowboys.

Why don't all teams use the unstoppable tush push? Here's why
There is one bit of information here that alone, to me, mandates tush-push be banned: Quote:
But the article is about why most NFL teams do not run the play. One aspect is that it would be a bit hypocritical for a coach to use the tush-push if his team has voted against it. There are other reasons, "the teams opposed to the play have a variety of objections, including avoiding injury risk to quarterbacks or not having personnel ideally suited to running the play". I think of it this way: In order to defend against the tush-push, you must bunch your players over center. But that opens up the possibility of a "fake push-tush" wherein a receiver peels away into a wide-open zone while the QB steps back and fires. Easy fourth down conversion, if not a TD. The play is unfair and it ought to be banned.

It is unfair if it is illegal or only one team is allowed to do it.
As I have repeatedly said, there is a difference between right & wrong & like & dislike. I hate the tush push. But I've yet to see anyone point to a rule it breaks.

The OL lines up over the ball, and it's not called. That's a neutral zone infraction yet it isn't called. The play doesn't need to be banned. But run it within the rules. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtDGIDxXnAo Last edited by Ragnar; 09-23-2025 at 09:40 AM. |

Week 3 notes........
........Who had Daniel/Brent Jones starting the year 5-0? Niners have eeked out a couple of close ones w/Brent @ the helm. Meanwhile, Daniel is having the best stretch in his career. He is completing 70+ of his throws for better than 9 yds per attempt & 0 picks. And they've only had to punt once. They haven't played the Jags yet, but it looks like Indy would have to fall off the earth to not end up winning the AFC South......... .......Daniel Jones performance has got to have 3 people less secure in their jobs. Each good game from Daniel eats @ Brian Daboll's rep for being a QB guru. And you can bet the NY media is noticing DJ's success as well. It has also got to really be burning up Joe Schoen's GM chair. You let Sequon go & he nearly sets records on his way to a ring. Now you have Daniel Jones looking like a potential MVP candidate, while the Giants got 3 QB's off season to replace him. & New York's record is the exact opposite of Indy's. The other name is Anthony Richardson. From the jump I could not understand why anyone had him as a 1st round pick. And despite Indy doing all they could to gift him the starting QB job, he now seems to be falling further & further away in the backup role. If DJ keeps this up, you have to wonder if the Colts try to sucker another team into taking Richardson on........ ........6 undefeated teams / 6 winless ones. Saints look to be the worst in the league. What's worse, it doesn't look like the Saints have any reason to hope for better on the roster......... ......While the Colts are the most surprising unbeaten, Texans are shocking all @ being 0-3. I've never felt all that good about Houston because the AFC South is a dumpster fire nearly every year. (Yes, even worse then the NFC South) But I wasn't expecting Houston to look this bad. I don't if CJ Stroud has regressed, or if his o-line is making him look terrible....... .......Speaking of young QB's.....not many are looking all that sharp to start the year. Stroud is struggling. Young is struggling. Rattler is struggling. Penix is struggling. McCarthy is struggling. Nix is struggling. & on & on....... ......Speaking of struggling, IDK what that was that I saw in Charlotte from Atlanta's offense. I would love, LOVE to sit here & tell you the Panthers put all sorts of pressure on Penix. That guys were flying around the field. How they just took away the Falcons will. But it was none of that. If I didn't know any better, I would say Atlanta didn't practice. It was that bad........ .......Gamblers who took the Rams had to be seething when the Eagles returned that blocked punt for a score on the game's final play. Talk about your bad beats.......... ......No theories as to why kickers can suddenly hit from 70 now?........... ......Are WR's "out of style"? Can't help notice no one is really breaking out this season from that position. QB's & coordinators more conscious of spreading it around & preventing divas from sprinting up?......... .......What impressed me about Detroit's win last night is that their coaching staff made excellent calls to get that win. It looked like Baltimore was going to keep up w/the Lions offensively. But in the 4th, Lamar suddenly began looking unsure of what was down field. That's a sign of good adjusting, a rare skill, IMO....... ......And meanwhile, the Ravens continue to make 4th quarter mistakes. Their goofs late in games are what keeps them from being playing in Super Bowls.......... .......Looked at the bottom 5 in team defense......Steelers, Bears, Cowboys, Giants & Ravens.... The nostalgic part of me just can't register that........ ....I'm not sure why Browns management doesn't step up & sit down Flacco. What are we accomplishing here? They are giving up 23 fewer yds than the Falcons in 2nd place. CIncy doesn't have Burrow or D, Steelers have ARod & no D, Baltimore has no D. W/some jolt to the offense, Cleveland is capable of shocking the NFL..........
