How do you allow your prospects to grow?
Since only some of your prospects pan out, you need a healthy supply of them. But then it becomes an issue to arrange them all to have a place to grow.
Most prospects at 18 years old are at half star to one star level, which is fine if they happen to be North American. They will usually get good ice time in the US and Canadian junior leagues. But European prospects struggle because the AI will send them to men's teams too early, so they get to play the 13th F or 7th D and then they won't develop into a top six guy in that league, so they're just stuck there, spending years without growth.
Even North American prospects may be an issue once they reach the age of 20. Often they still have years to grow, but they're not yet ready for AHL. Especially if the AI is running your farm teams, which means only 2.5 star players get good ice time in your AHL team...
Do you just send all such players to ECHL? Even with that option weaker players might not get to play much if the AI runs the team.
Of course running the lines on your farm teams yourself will fix some of these issues but it takes a lot of time and micro managing.
What solutions do you use to make sure all your prospects get a real chance to grow?
