What happened to hitter vs pitcher in the game options setting?
When you played game in OOTP 24 the lineup displayed the hitter's performance against the starting pitcher. In OOTP 25, the game options settings has replaced the hitter vs pitcher performance? Is there a way to replace options with performance? Am I not seeing it?

There was another thread around here somewhere people were talking about it, don't remember where though.

It's been noted. Hopefully back in the next patch, at least Markus said he would work on it. While in a different thread I thought Matt mentioned they would do something with resolutions. Not sure if that meant the options would stay where they are, and the player stats would return if your screen has enough room? If so I can't see that flying with laptop users.
The bad thing is it's on the opening screen AND the Team Statistics page, in exact same format and size. Change between those two screens and the options/settings don't even move.

My biggest concern is that the stats don’t show on bigger monitors. I have faith Markus will fix it, but honestly, I’ve shelved OOTP until it gets fixed because I play out every game. So it is a huge deal to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yeah, I figure there is a return coming too. I play 'em all out, always look at those stats, and miss having them. I am still playing, but it does take away from my enjoyment.

Hitter vs pitcher in useless information. The fact it is mentioned by TV announcers who think they have to talk constantly doesn't change that.

With that reasoning we should remove RBIs. You may be fine with removing RBIs, but I think most would not like the idea. Taking away something that's always been there so we can have the same option on two screens seems like a backwards step to me. Yeah, it's on both the pregame screen and the team stats screen in v25... The exact same options and when you go from one screen to the other the options part of the screen doesn't even move. All that happens is the team stats section replaces the lineup section.

I won’t speak for Brad but for me that information just didn’t justify the space on that particular screen. For me the sample size 95% of the time was just too small to be meaningful. It would be like after 3 or 4 game of the season extrapolating the results and saying this guy is going to hit 0 HRs or 75 HRs for the season. To be somewhat meaningful the pitcher batter would have to face each other a minimum of 15 times.
Having said all that, I didn’t/wouldn’t mind it being there. I just ignore it. I just think other stats are just as useful but not listed there. For example performance vs righty or lefty pitchers whichever the pitcher is. Or performance in the past 15 days, etc.. JMO

I was just curious about the context, because I agree that the little "0-4" stat on the OOTP screen is pretty meaningless, but at the same time guys who have played in the same division for 10 years and have 100+ hitter vs. pitcher encounters have a little bit more substance to the stat, obviously. |

Why was this even changed in the first place?
This company makes some really odd decisions.

I have a 14 in laptop and last year there was no problems. This year all I have is the lineup players name, picture and star rating. No stats at all! If I change the screen resolution I can get the stats on there but the print is so small I have to squint. I would love to have the players stats back on that page!!!

The question (likely rhetorical) was why. Yes, there’s now a space issue. Why did the devs think giving “set it and forget it” settings far more prominent screen space? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The thing that bugs the crap out of me is the awful way the standings league leaderboard is now displayed when one uses only one subleague. It's awful. |

Brad also brought up RBI's. They, along with wins and losses, really don't matter. If they were removed I'm guessing the result would be the same, ie users asking "why?", please return them, and stop removing things from the game, even if they are just for immersion. There are quite a few menus that could be cleaned up if we want to take immersive yet meaningless stats out of the game. The end results in making this change are two fold. First some users lost information, that was already there, that added flavor/immersion to their game. Second it took that "immersion" screen that showed matchups with a kind of media/tv look, and replaced it with a screen that emphasized "this is a computer game" with a settings menu. It would be like adding your "league options" to the standings screen while removing the option for league leaders to be shown**. If that were done it too would be one less click and easy to find. If they thought removing the B v. P. information was something they wanted to do they would have been better off doing it and not adding the option panel to the screen. ** The "League Leaders" option was removed from the standings page in one version, I don't recall which year. The reaction was the same as this and it was put back in place in the first patch. Thankfully Matt has at least said B v P is on the list of things to do.

Of course the valid point with any game stat (like 0 for 4) or limited sample stat (like batter versus pitcher) is that (very limited) "past performance does not guarantee future results", as the investment people say. Anyone who uses limited stats as a predictor (or as an evaluation tool) is fooling themselves. It is a kind of background noise to the game, which, yes, announcers love (they have air to fill). But, within its (very limited) context, it is harmless. I like the (false) notion that so-and-so is due, either because he is 0 for 4, or 0 for 10 against the pitcher. Baseball is full of myths and traditions, and these are typical of that. I guess it's kind of a left brain versus right brain distinction. I can appreciate the flavor of meaningless stats, without using them in any analytical way to make game decisions.
