Slap on the Back to OOTP team and community
On the day prior to the release, I just wanted to give everyone who is a part of the OOTP community a big slap on the back for a job well done over the past few years.
I found out about OOTP with the release of OOTP2. I compiled all the historical info and old parks info for OOTP2 that I think some people still use, although I don't know how well the numbers work with newer versions. I hope they've helped people enjoy the historic seasons.
Anyway, with my job (OB/GYN physician in my last year of residency) I haven't had a lot of time to actively participate, but I've kept up as a "silent OOTP junkie" when I can.
I played Front Page Sports football and also all the Front Office Football series, and I just wanted to point out how wonderfully the community and game has grown in such a short time.
From the add-on files, to online leagues, to utilities, to support from the OOTP braintrust, it has been very professional AND very gamer friendly.
I've never done any computer programing so I cannot even imagine what it takes to put a project together like this, but Markus has always listened and responded to our wants and suggestions.
Sure, there have been "heated discussions" over the years, (can we please assign 1 person with the title "Grand Pooba of Up-to-Date Roster Sets" and move on?), but through it all everyone has had the same goal, get the best baseball simulation for accuracy and enjoyment.
I can't wait til tomorrow, but good job everyone and keep it up!
Now, I'm going to get a ...SNIFF SNIFF... tissue and ...SNIFF SNIFF... try and control my emotions.
I feel like Kevin Costner in "Field of Dreams" asking his dad if he wanted to play catch.
