3D Graphics

Hi, all. Just purchased 24 today but I am a long time player. I am having issues with the graphics. It's just not smooth like it always has been. The pitcher does not throw the ball..it just shows up somewhere after the hitter has made contact. There isn't a windup of any kind. It is as if it has fast-forwarded to the middle of the play so the action is impossible to follow. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I have tried slowing the animation way down, nothing makes a difference. This is unplayable currently for me.

I'm no expert but normally the first thing to do would be to make sure your video card drivers are up to date.

One thing that changed in v24 is the audience animations take more computer resources to display. One of the first things suggested is to turn the crowd to it's lowest setting and see what happens. If that fixes it you can increase the crowd setting until find how high you can go on your rig before you have issues.

If that doesn't do it you may have a bad install? Do you have the Steam version or Fast Springs? If Steam you could verify the files to make sure things installed properly. Fast Springs uninstall/reinstall, or I think you can just run the installer again over your copy to make sure all files got where they should be. Here's a thread from the bugs section https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...ighlight=crowd , not the same issue but it has information that may help.

Maybe post in, and search, the bugs forums to look for solutions? Someone with a similar issue may come along or OOTP staff may see it sooner there.

After that I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

Thanks. I had done most of that and the rest didn't seem to help. Sometimes it works, then kt will jist start showing the animation beginning off the bat and not the pitcher. I have never had trouble running a version of the game. I am also getting a ghost pitcher often after returning to the game from the substitution menu. I guess I will stick to 23. Thanks for your suggestions.

disappointing that you will give up on the game without posting in the proper tech support forum

Sorry to disappoint you. I am a little more disappointed my system can't run the game, but it was going to eventually happen.. The problem isn't the game, so let's not make this another thread where we rush to the game's defense. 23 is a fine product so no big deal as I am sure 24 is with appropriate resources. I will no doubt updgrade my dated system soon. When I do I will let you know so you are no longer disappointed. How did this post of yours help exactly?

Another example of how software drives hardware! I have a giant hard drive, thanks largely to OOTP saves I didn’t want to lose. The improved graphics in 24 clearly demand more computer resources, and the OP has crossed that line. He won’t be the only one to find out the hard way that his system can’t quite handle the load.

Can you give the specs of your system? Laptop, desktop? How old is it, video card, ram, processor? Maybe we can help you upgrade your system (If it is possible) to help you with your issues. We are more than happy to help like this.

Turning the audience animation setting down to one of the lower options (simplified, or detailed, rather than the animated audience) might help improve in-game performance. I would suggest trying that out and seeing if that helps.
