Explain to me (again, probably) how rotating schedules work?

so I believe I read somewhere that if you have multiple schedules that match your league format the game will automatically rotate between them from year to year. How do I make sure those schedules are the only ones that the league will use? Is there a special folder to put them in, or do I remove all other schedules from the data/schedules folder??
