Under Salary Floor

Winding down the season with the Kraken. I put an older, underperforming player with a big salary on waivers to get some young guys some time. Turns out he got picked up and now I am below the salary floor.

What is my best way to handle that? Can I just edit the current year salaries for other players on the team? Do I have to sign some scrub from the free agents for enough money to get me over? Is that salary going to go dollar for dollar against the floor even though I only have a handful of games left?

And how would I get that salary into this year. If I recall, when I was looking at signing a free agent, it looked like the salary was going to be for next year, not current.
