Is there a pitch count issue

I've played over a dozen games and it seams like the number of pitches my pitchers throw is way more than the pitchers of the AI opponents. Always by the 4th inning, my pitcher has thrown more than 70 pitches yet my opponents are like 25 to 45. Is there a setting that I have on or off?

25 pitches is completely unheard of for 4 innings. 45 is possible if the pitcher is particularly good and efficient, but the fact you're giving the range of 25-45 makes me think something is off somewhere for you.

I've been keeping 9 relievers in my bullpen because my pitchers will reach 90+ by the 5th inning consistently. I'm thinking maybe its because I don't have it on pitch by pitch mode. I also haven't been using pitch around nor pitch to contact. It's too far unbalanced between user and AI. I didn't notice this in OOTP22. Maybe I'll switch back.

How is there control? Bad control will mean more pitches. Also are you playing out or simming?

Of my rotation, they are 65, 50, 55, 45 and 45. I play out the games, but don't do pitch by pitch. Maybe I'll try that and see what happens.

Played through 3 innings, my pitcher threw 49 pitches with 3 hits against and 4 K's. Opponent threw 57 pitches with 3 hits and 1 walk against and 1 K. Maybe you were on to something with playing pbp. Thanks

First 12 games of season? How much did they pitch in ST?

Someone can just sim 100 seasons and run a report on pitches per inning for each player and season, right?

I play out a lot of games and this is why I take pitches until I have 2 strikes otherwise every single AI pitcher will make it to the 7th inning on less than 85 pitches. I don't understand why or how this happens either.

Do you use the pitch location/speed widget? I play in one-pitch mode, but use the widget, to see how many pitches were thrown, speed, location. Frequently, guys will foul off multiple offspeed pitches. That can add to the pitch count, even where the guy is throwing effectively. It seems to happen more with “nibblers” than with power pitchers, which makes sense to me. Of course, power guys will throw more balls, and thus higher pitch counts for that reason. I don’t think your totals are that unusual, unless it is Greg Maddux pitching. The widget is a great way to monitor what is going on - for both hurlers.

I play out all of my games and do not see this with AI pitchers.
